Cops Canceled at Paramount Community

Cops will not be returning to TV anytime quickly. Paramount Community has formally canceled the police actuality present, in line with The Hollywood Reporter

This information comes simply days after A&E decided to pull episodes of Live PD and Cops was pulled from Paramount’s schedule within the wake of protests towards police brutality following the death of George Floyd. Cops had beforehand been scheduled to air its Season 33 premiere on Monday, June 8. Now, it appears like these plans have formally been dropped.

Cops shouldn’t be on the Paramount Community and we haven’t any present or future plans for it to return,” a Paramount Community spokesperson mentioned in an announcement.

Spike TV — later rebranded as Paramount Community — initially picked up Cops again in 2013 after the sequence ended a 25-season run on Fox. Cops first premiered on Fox in 1989 and the sequence has at all times confronted criticism, including accusations of exploitation of minorities and low-income residents, in addition to criticism for legislation enforcement’s strategies of subduing suspects.
