This weekend is shaping up to be a busy one with new arrivals on Netflix. Tomorrow, you can catch every season of the fantastic historical action series Vikings, which now acts as a prequel to Netflix’s own Vikings: Valhalla. Then, on Easter Sunday, look forward to a slew of new movies making their way to Netflix, including both Kill Bill movies and the entire The Hunger Games franchise.

What to Watch on Netflix This Weekend

When You Finish Saving the World (2022)

Rating: R
Language: English
Genre: Comedy, Drama
Director: Jesse Eisenberg
Writer: Jesse Eisenberg
Runtime: 88 min / 1h 28m

Joining Netflix’s collection of A24 movies, When You Finish Saving the World, headlined by Julianne Moore and Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard, marks the first time in the US that the movie can be streamed as part of a subscription service.

What can you expect from the drama that serves as Jesse Eisenberg’s directorial debut:

“Unable to connect with his peers and parents, a high schooler turns to his online music channel as his social worker mom forges a bond with another teen.”

Alex Billington for FirstShowing.net was mostly positive in his review back in December 2022 saying, “The film is a bit shaggy but engaging overall with heaps of very awkward moments and dry humor and conversations about how shallow people can be. So yes, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Both Julianne Moore and Finn Wolfhard are exceptional.”

The Beautiful Game (2024)

Rating: PG-13
Language: English
Genre: Drama, Sport
Director: Thea Sharrock
Cast: Bill Nighy, Valeria Golino, Micheal Ward
Writer: Frank Cottrell Boyce
Runtime: 125 min / 2h 5m

Netflix’s Original lineup is a bit quiet this week, likely designed to help boost the visibility of 3 Body Problem in the app. However, that’s not to say there’s nothing new from the streaming service’s own lineup this week.

Headlined by Bill Nighy, this biopic is one of two films featuring the legendary star set to appear on Netflix this year (the second being Joy, due out in October). The story focuses on the Homeless World Cup, with Nighy playing the coach who hopes to lead England to victory.

Between Lands (Season 1)

Number of episodes: 10
Rating: TV-MA
Language: Spanish
Genre: Drama
Cast: Megan Montaner, Unax Ugalde, Begoña Maestre, Clara Garrido, Carlos Serrano, Juanjo Puigcorbé
Runtime: 54 mins

Picture: Antenna 3

Finally, if you’re looking for a new international series to get your teeth stuck into then Between Lands could be a good pick. Also known as Entre tierras, the series first aired on Antenna 3 and became one of Spain’s most-watched series of last year.

Here’s what you can expect:

“María, to ensure the well-being and future of her family, agrees to marry a landowner from La Mancha, who hides secrets about her past.”
