Happy Friday! Welcome to another rundown of everything new on Netflix in the US for the past seven days, where we’ve got 37 titles to cover in total, ranging from new mobile games, horror movies, rom-coms, documentaries, and much more.

In case you’ve missed it, Netflix has had a pretty heavy news week. There have been new announcements from Netflix in the United Kingdom and Germany, not to mention lots of filming updates and casting news.

Looking ahead to the weekend, we’ve got three new ESPN 30 for 30 docs hitting on Sunday with those being I Hate Christian Laettner, Survive and Advance, and The Fab Five.

Now, let’s examine three highlights (and remember that we’ll feature more in our what-to-watch guide tomorrow).

Best New Movies and Series on Netflix This Week

The Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016)

Rating: R
Language: English
Genre: Horror, Mystery, Thriller
Director: André Øvredal
Cast: Brian Cox, Emile Hirsch, Ophelia Lovibond
Writer: Ian Goldberg, Richard Naing
Runtime: 86 min / 1h 26m

More often than not, horror movies divide people right down the middle. However, in the case of this IFC Film, it seemingly managed to get everyone on the same page with positive reviews across the board.

Starring Brian Cox, who has rocketed to even bigger stardom in recent years thanks to Succession, you follow a father-son business performing an autopsy of an unidentified Jane Doe, which leads them down a horrifying path.

Yu Yu Hakusho: Ghost Files (Seasons 1-2)

Number of episodes: 66
Rating: TV-PG
Language: Japanese
Genre: Animation, Action, Adventure
Cast: Nozomu Sasaki, Justin Cook, Christopher Sabat

Looking for some classic anime? Netflix just got the first two seasons of the classic Yu Yu Hakusho, which, of course, Netflix gave a live-action adaptation in late December, which debuted to great reviews. While this anime has been available on Funimation, Crunchyroll, and even Hulu for some time, if you’ve not seen it until now, we’d recommend it.

Irish Wish (2024)

Rating: TV-PG
Language: English
Genre: Comedy, Fantasy, Romance
Director: Janeen Damian
Cast: Lindsay Lohan, Ed Speleers, Alexander Vlahos, Ayesha Curry, Jane Seymour, Elizabeth Tan
Writer: Kirsten Hansen
Runtime: 93 min / 1h 33m

Netflix’s big movie for the week, arriving just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, is Irish Wish, the second major movie to come from Netflix’s partnership with Linsday Lohan, with another on the way later this year.

As with Lohan’s first movie, reviews have been mixed, but if you’re in the mood for a camp rom-com, this is definitely for you.

Our critic was not kind to the movie, only giving it a single star in his review published this morning. In his concluding remarks, Morgan says, “Irish Wish is a bland speed bump in the revival of Lindsay Lohan’s superstar status. A dreadful screenplay unfitting of Lohan’s current momentum with a complete lack of pulse or reasoning takes most of the blame here.”
