The CW’s limited series Containment is set to leave Netflix in the United States in October 2021. The series which is eerily scary given the events of the past two years is a must-watch and has been one of The CW’s best titles in years. Here’s when it’s leaving and why you should give it a watch.

Before getting into the gritty details of its removal, let’s first cover what the show was about and why you should give it a watch as the chances are, you’ve never even heard of it.

Added to Netflix back in October 2016, the limited series tells the story of what happened when a ferocious contagion swept through the city of Atlanta. It saw a citywide quarantine put up with officials scrambling to put together a cure. Sound familiar?

The series was created by Julie Plec who is known for her work on The Vampire Diaries and its two spin-offs, The Originals and Legacies.

Among the cast for the limited series included Chris Wood, Chistina Marie Moses, Claudia Black, David Gyasi and George Young.

The series wasn’t particularly highly regarded at the time of release but viewers of the series continue to pile on the praise. As of September 2021, it carries a 7.1/10 on IMDb.

It ran for 13 episodes total all of which have been streaming on Netflix for years but only in the United States.

As you may know, Netflix’s deal with The CW means that shows come to Netflix for the duration of the show’s lifetime and then stay on the service for 5-years. Given it’s a limited series, the five year time began ticking down in October 2016 and as that timer is now up, the series is due to depart.

All 13 episodes of Containment are leaving Netflix US on October 10th, 2021.

Of course, Containment isn’t the only series to be leaving from The CW. We’re tracking all of the shows leaving Netflix that came via The CW deal with Reign set to leave Netflix in 2022 alongside The Vampire Diaries.

Where will Containment stream after leaving Netflix? That’s unclear for the moment but the likelihood is that it’ll drop onto HBO Max given it’s distributed by Warner Brothers Television.
