Tyler Perry’s latest film, “Divorce In The Black,” is set to premiere on Amazon Prime on July 11, 2024. The film features an impressive cast including Meagan Good, Cory Hardrict, Richard Lawson, and Debbie Morgan. The trailer for the film was unveiled recently during the American Black Film Festival on Miami Beach, generating significant buzz among audiences and critics.

The story centers around Ava (Meagan Good), a banking professional whose life is turned upside down when her husband Dallas (Cory Hardrict) abruptly leaves her. Determined to fight for their relationship, Ava embarks on a journey that leads her to uncover the true, dark nature of Dallas, revealing him to be a deeply flawed and wicked individual.
The movie is described as “Ava, a young bank professional is devastated when her husband Dallas abandons a marriage she is determined to fight for until fate intervenes, revealing Dallas’ wicked deeds that have trashed their marriage, and once upon a time sabotaged Ava’s destiny to be loved by her true soulmate.”
“Divorce In The Black” promises to be a powerful exploration of personal growth and resilience, bringing together a talented cast under Perry’s direction. This film delves into the complexities of relationships, the challenges of separation, and the journey toward healing and self-discovery. With Perry at the helm, viewers can expect a poignant and deeply moving narrative, enriched by strong performances from the ensemble cast.
I had the pleasure of speaking with one of the movie’s stars, veteran actor Richard Lawson who plays Ava’s father.
He describes his character as “I am a loving, supportive father who happens to be a Preacher as well. I care for the small community that we live in. As all father’s are, I am concerned about the relationship my daughter has.”
He further states the the opening scene in the movie is “unbelievable” which left this critic on the edge of her seat.
We went on to discuss the longevity of his career and even now who he hopes to work with.
