The Public Broadcasting Service’s value shouldn’t ever be a question, but once again, PBS stations are gearing up to defend the nonprofit broadcast channel against the threat of funding cuts, just as they did in 2020.
“For 50 years, PBS has served as a trusted source for educational and thought-provoking programming, including school readiness initiatives for children, support for teachers and caregivers, public safety communications, and lifelong learning across broadcast and digital platforms,” PBS President and CEO Paula Kerger said in a statement at the time, amid another political effort to defund public media.
Perhaps to bolster their cause, they should just show off the sensational library of originals that have come from PBS over the years. Here are our picks for the best programs the channel has ever aired, the likes of which we’d lose if PBS ever went dark.
