‘1883’ Star Tim McGraw Shares His Passion For Preparation

TV Shows

1883 star Tim McGraw has a passion for preparation. While some might think a star of his caliber can take it easy from time to time, the country singer and actor is not among them.

Speaking to Taste of Country, he explained what his normal schedule is when he’s shooting. It turns out that it’s likely more strenuous than anyone would expect.

Right at the top of the list is the fact that his day starts at 3 AM. However, that day usually doesn’t involve other people. That’s the time he sets for himself.

1883 Star Tim McGraw’s Passion Includes The Gym

“I’m sort of a gym rat,” the singer and actor said with a laugh. “I have to be in the gym every morning. The toughest part is being up at 3 in the morning every morning in order to make your call times.”

He added that losing out on that much sleep is likely the toughest part of his schedule.

“That’s probably the hardest part of it, is getting up at 3, getting your workouts in,” he added. “Because there’s been a couple of days that I didn’t do that, and the energy is not the same on set.”

Tim McGraw said that he also uses the time he’s working out to prepare mentally for his day on 1883.

“My workouts are sort of like my meditation in a lot of ways,” he stated. “That’s the time when I go over my lines in my head, and I prepare for the day and try to be ready for what’s going on.”

It’s not also just about him getting ready for his own part. He said that he likes to know what everyone else is going to say and do as well.

“That way I can sort of feel the moment and be in the moment,” he said.

That approach might seem strenuous on its own but that’s before realizing that shooting for 1883 was shoved into a relatively short schedule. Whether or not that was better or worse for Tim McGraw, he wouldn’t say.

Doing Double Duty

While there are certainly some people who only know the man as a singer, he’s definitely established himself as an actor as well.

While he’s made several appearances on television shows including Yellowstone and its prequel spinoff series, he’s also appeared on the big screen. One of his first big movies was when he appeared as Charles Billingsley in Friday Night Lights.

Unlike the caring JD Dutton, Billingsley was a rather abusive father of a talented high school football player who never really lived up to his dad’s standard.

He also appeared as another “football dad” in The Blindside when he portrayed Sean Tuohy.

One has to wonder whether 1883 star Tim McGraw had the same kind of crazy schedule when he was shooting those movies.
