Ami Brown, a mother of seven, received a diagnosis of advanced lung cancer back in 2017. The Alaksan Bush People star sought answers after enduring months of pain she couldn’t explain.
She told People Magazine at the time: “I had some pain in my back. Walking from the house to the garden, I would get winded. There were days I was just bedridden, but I just thought it was my arthritis.”
As fans of Alaskan Bush People know, she was only given a three percent survival rate. Despite the odds stacked up against her, Ami Brown has been in remission since 2018. Ami’s advanced lung cancer caused her to go through grueling and unbearable pain. Moreover, her cancer diagnosis was emotionally painful for the entire family.
Despite all of the pain and struggle Ami Brown endured with her cancer diagnosis, she revealed during this week’s episode of Alaskan Bush People that she’s discovered something worse. Something she considers to be far more painful than battling cancer.
Alaskan Bush People: Ami Brown finds real pain beyond her own cancer
During last night’s episode of Alaskan Bush People, fans watched as Ami Brown sat on the couch with her daughter Snowbird. Birdie told her mother the real reason she took so long to go to the doctor is that she knew something was wrong and she was afraid to face it.
Birdie tells her mother Ami she feels bad that the family had to postpone going to Alaska. What Bird Brown wants more than anything was to get back to Alaska. She thought the Alaskan air would do her some good. Likewise, she jokingly admitted she’d love the chance to pet a bear cub. Her mother quickly shut down the joke noting she knew petting a bear or bear cub was never going to happen.
Speaking directly to the cameras, Ami Brown points out that her daughter Birdie cannot get around on her own. She hasn’t had enough time to recover. And, making a big trip to Alaska simply isn’t an option for her right now.
Ami Brown also admits to the camera that watching her daughter Birdie suffer is easily one of the hardest things she’s ever had to do. The Alaskan Bush People’s mother tells the cameras she would take the burden of all Birdie’s ailments and pain in a heartbeat if she didn’t have to watch her suffer anymore.
