He underwent surgery just a few weeks after they shared the diagnosis. Now, she’s sharing a huge update on what they have learned from doctors. What did Ali have to say? Keep reading to find out more.
Ali Fedotowsky Manno And Husband Kevin Had Shared Cancer Diagnosis
When Bachelorette Ali Fedotowsky Manno and Kevin Manno shared his cancer diagnosis with fans they both felt it was important to share his story. He had no symptoms before the diagnosis.
She said at the end of January, “Kevin had no symptoms [and] still has no symptoms. [He] feels so healthy, best shape of your life. I mean, your bloodwork at every annual [check-up] has come back absolutely perfect. No lumps and bumps in his throat, like, his thyroid has been felt.”
The message that she and Kevin had decided to share was that early detection is key. He had a Prenuvo full-body MRI scan a year ago which indicated a few spots on his thyroid that they wanted to monitor and check a year later. When he did get it checked the next year and it had doubled in size. The doctors conducted a biopsy and cancer was confirmed. She reiterated that he had no symptoms.
Two weeks ago, Kevin underwent surgery. She shared that everything went well but until today she didn’t share what exactly happened and what they found out.
Now, she went to social media to share more about Kevin’s surgery.
Ali Shares Huge Cancer Update On Kevin
On Thursday, Ali Fedotowsky Manno finally shared an update on Kevin and how’s he doing post-surgery. Other than sharing photos of him in bed and recovering she had not shared what the doctors did and the updated diagnosis.
Today, she filled fans in and it is actually fantastic news for Kevin. She revealed that once the doctors began surgery they only had to take half of his thyroid. Originally, there was a concern they may have to remove the entire thing. They were also concerned about whether or not the cancer had spread to his lymph nodes.
Today she not only revealed that they only took half of the thyroid but she also revealed that it had not spread to his lymph nodes which is great news. Plus, they got the pathology reports back and the results revealed that the doctors had gotten all of the cancer when they did the surgery. The margins came back clean and Kevin is officially cancer-free.
After having the surgery at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville at 7:30 am, he was already home resting by 11:30 am. She voiced how amazed she is at physicians and how far medical technology has come.
The next step in Kevin’s recovery is to see how his half of a thyroid reacts. There is a strong possibility he will be put on medication to help his thyroid function for the rest of his life. However, it’s a waiting game for now of just waiting to see.
What do you think of Kevin being cancer-free? Have you had a full body scan to help identify potential issues?
