Vanderpump Rules is currently on hiatus and the start date for filming on Season 12 is up in the air. As of now, some fans think the show may never return. More so, some also think that it is time to either officially end it or completely reboot it. Cast members Lala Kent and Scheana Shay tried to claim that they were told midway through Season 11 that they had to amp up the drama. If that did not happen, the show could be canceled. Admittedly, Lala took this very seriously and brought her A-game to the finale and the reunion.

As for Scheana, she alleged that she did not want anyone to lose their jobs so she did the best that she could. This was all at the advisement of EP, Alex Baskin who supposedly had a conversation with some of the cast about the cancelation. Now, he is opening up about what really happened or rather, his intent when speaking with the cast. According to Radar Online, Baskin was at Variety’s TV FYC Fest where he shared his side. To him, the chat was about being genuine and not making up drama for drama’s sake.

Per Alex Baskin:

“We did get the entire cast together, and we thought we had hit a point in the season where I actually think that they were impacted by what was happening on social media. We basically were telling them to drown out the noise, and to make the show that they had made over the previous ten seasons — and that didn’t mean we asked them to manufacture anything.”

More so, he went on to explain that he did not tell the Vanderpump Rules cast what to say or to do. Rather, he knew there was something that worked with the crew they had and wanted to keep that flow going:

“It just meant that we had made a show that worked because it was everybody rowing in the same direction, and reacting to each other. And we’ve gotten away from that. So we thought that we had to intervene in that sense.”

The Disconnect

From what Alex Baskin is saying, it seems he just wanted everyone to come back together in a united front. Unfortunately, they just continued to become more divided than ever. Lala Kent is no longer friends with Katie Maloney and Ariana Madix. Furthermore, Scheana Shay does not speak with Tom Sandoval or Ariana that much. Currently, Ariana is off filming Love Island, Katie is running Something About Her, and James Kennedy is working on his DJ career. Finally, Lisa Vanderpump is opening her restaurants, and the spinoff, The Valley, keeps thriving.

Do you think Scheana and Lala took what Alex Baskin said too far or is he changing his story? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
