Emmy Award-winning actor Stuart Margolin has been confirmed dead at the age of 82. Hailing from Davenport, Iowa the actor won two Best Supporting Actor Emmies for his role as James Garner’s former cell-mate, the sweet con man named Evelyn”Angel” Martin in The Rockford Files. Stuart Margolin Dead At 82: Cause Of Death
Stuart Margolin stepson, Max Martini (who is also an actor), confirmed his stepfather’s passing via Instagram. Christopher Martini (who is both a director and his stepson), also spoke about Stuart’s passing to The Hollywood Reporter. His stepsons confirmed his cause of death was “natural causes” as a result of his old age.

On his Instagram tribute, Max noted that the passing of his stepfather was one of two profound moments he had had during his entire life.
He penned: “The two most profound moments in my life… the birth of my kids and being bedside as my step-father passed this morning. My mother, brother and I holding his hands. All the time in between birth and death, life, is up to us to fill with equally profound moments. “
Love you Stuart Margolin. A great actor/writer/producer/director. But more importantly, a profoundly gifted step-father that was always there with love and support for his family. RIP Pappy. Keep ‘em cold.”

A Closer Look At His Career
Stuart Margolin had five decades of acting under his belt at the time of his passing. He kicked off his career with The Gertrude Berg Show in the 60s. Then, he proceeded to become a regular in a series called Ensign O’Toole in 1962.

A large chunk of his work has been involved in television. He, however, did dabble in directing as well. In 1973, he directed an episode of Love, American Style. He went on to direct for both TV shows and TV-made movies for the next 37 years.
