Yesterday actor Gene Hackman, his wife Betsy Arakawa and their German Shepherd dog were all found dead in their home in New Mexico. The fans want details and here is all that has come out so far about his death at the age of 95. There is very little information, but some details have been revealed.
Details Of Gene Hackman’s Death
Gene Hackman was discovered dead in his home in Santa Fe, New Mexico late last night. He had been married to his wife Besty for 34 years. Authorities found the bodies of both of them plus a deceased dog at their home. At this time, police are saying that they don’t think any foul play was involved in their deaths. They went on to explain that an “active investigation” is ongoing at this time. Here is the statement from the local police department:
“We can confirm that both Gene Hackman and his wife were found deceased Wednesday afternoon at their residence on Sunset Trail. This is an active investigation – however, at this time we do not believe that foul play was a factor.”
Police Statement For The Case
The police statement for the case shared a few details. Here is what it said:
“On February 26 2025 at approximately 1.45pm, Santa Fe County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to an address on Old Sunset Trail in Hyde Park where Gene Hackman, 95, and his wife Betsy Arakawa, 64, and a dog were found deceased.”
It is believed that over the years they have had several German Shepherds. It is unknown if this was the only dog in the home at this time.
The news of their death didn’t break until overnight even though they were found much earlier in the day.
Gene Hackman’s Career
Gene Hackman is a well-known actor, but he actually retired back in 2004. He hasn’t been seen much over the years since then. There was one sighting of him a few years back and you could tell that he had lost a lot of weight. His last movie was Welcome to Mooseport. His role in Bonnie And Clyde is what started his career after getting out of the military. The Birdcage is a movie that really helped his career and that a lot of people would recognize him from. During his life, Gene Hackman was nominated for five Oscars for his work in films. His career lasted for over six decades.
Gene Hackman was also the author of three books, other than acting. He did not have any children with his wife Betsy, but had three children Christopher, Elizabeth and Leslie from a previous marriage.
