Gold Rush will make some major changes when it returns for a new season. This includes not bringing back the Clayton Brothers after they were one of the featured mining teams in the last season.
Here is what Gold Rush is reportedly doing next season, and what this means for the cast of next season’s show.
Gold Rush not bringing back Clayton Brothers
This past season of Gold Rush was hit and miss for many fans. Part of this was because it was a show of two halves. On one side, Tony Beets and Parker Schnabel were as professional and successful as ever. Their teams show what it is like when a mining company is doing the right things. Even when Parker struggled with his new site, it was not a disaster for the mining superstar.
However, the other half of the show focused on the Clayton Brothers and Fred Lewis. The Claytons struggled with old equipment and their main story was helping their family get out of debt. With all the broken equipment and constant repairs, they just seemed to struggle throughout the year.
Fred Lewis, on the other hand, made poor decisions throughout the season and it looked like he would never see success when it came to his gold mining business. His story was about veterans getting a chance to work on a crew on the show. However, his lack of success ruined that storyline for much of the season.
Now, as the mining season prepares to kick off and filming is about to start up, it looks like the Claytons are not going to appear on Gold Rush for the new season. This news came via a Reddit thread that credited insider information. The OP revealed that they were filmed because Rick Ness pulled out at the last minute.
The original lineup was Tony, Parker, Rick, and Fred. Now, it looks like the Claytons are finished with Gold Rush.
What will Gold Rush look like next season?
There is also a chance Fred Lewis’ role will change drastically in the next season. The rumors hit that Fred’s entire crew was let go. However, Discovery wants Fred back for the new season. There is a chance he ends up working alongside someone else next season, taking the pressure of decision-making off his shoulders.
The biggest change is that Rick Ness will be back. This was announced when Rick’s ex-girlfriend said he was returning. She has since broken up with him again, but Rick was seen hiring a crew and preparing to return to the show. With Rick back, there is no reason to have the Claytons and Fred Lewis both on the show. If Fred ends up repurposed, there might be a brand-new fourth mining team joining the show in their place.
