Fans are loving Joe Millionaire: For Richer or Poorer. They are also loving host, butler Martin Andrew. He’s added comedy and perfect narrative to a new reality dating show. Martin fits the part perfectly. So, what did he have to say about his new role?
Joe Millionaire butler Martin Andrew put a spin on his new role
Distractify shared some details about Martin Andrew’s role. He pretty much does it all unlike the very first Joe Millionaire who had both a host and a butler. Martin not only works as the host and the butler, but he’s also the narrator and an overall emcee for the experience.
Martin is no stranger to showbiz. He actor, musician, author, and celebrity impersonator who has even impersonated Rod Stewart. Being on reality tv was different for Martin. He said, “It was a very different project to be a part of because I’d never done reality television.”
Martin admitted it was new to him not having months to learn lines from all his other scripted projects. He said, “In this situation, it was just was the complete opposite [of that].” He continued, “I had no clue what was going on most of the time until right before we were going to do something, when I’d talk to a producer. They’d give me the sort of basic premise of what was going to happen, and then you were in the moment.”
He didn’t know what show he was hosting
Just like Steven McBee and Kurt Sowers, Martin did not know the show he was hosting was a Joe Millionaire reboot. He said, “The fact of the matter is, when we started filming, I didn’t know what show I was doing.” Martin continued, “We just all thought we were doing a dating show, but we weren’t aware that it was Joe Millionaire at first.”
Once Martin realized that it was indeed a reboot of Joe Millionaire, he went to his hotel room and researched it all. He noted he did not want to follow Paul Hogan’s footsteps as the previous butler.
So, Martin decided to put his own spin on things. He said, “I felt it was important to move on from that because we had a different concept with the new Joe Millionaire.” He continued, “I put my own sort of spin on it … It was nice to use that [new concept] as sort of stepping stone to move on to the new show.”
Martin has navigated his role perfectly. He’s become a special part of this show. He’s guided Steven, Kurt and even the ladies.
