Brad Paisley’s wife Kimberly Williams-Paisley lost her voice for two whole years. Brad and their children did everything in their power to support her through the treacherous journey ahead of her.
The Beginning Of The Long Road Ahead
While Brad tried his best to assist his wife, in his words he “stepped in it a lot”. The two-year period in which Kimberly Williams-Paisley could not manage to get his voice above a whisper was hard on the family. Kimberly’s voice first failed her back in November 2022. She was hosting the Alzheimer’s Association event.
Brad admits that he had doubted the significance at first. Brad said he thought “Man, she has overdone it.” Brad was basing his perspective in the early days on issues he had previously. He had tried giving her advice in the beginning days, asking her to “let me hear you project”. He thought the issue would wear off in its own time. But the issue did not go away, after months Kimberly Williams-Paisley still could not raise her voice above a whisper. Eventually, Kimberly was diagnosed with a partially paralyzed vocal chord. In the meantime, before she underwent surgery, life was hard for Kimberly.
Issues Arose In Kimberly’s Daily Life
One of the big problems that Brad was able to help his wife get through was communication within the home. Kimberly Williams-Paisley was having a hard time communicating with her and Brad’s children unless they were in close proximity. Brad Paisley remedied the situation by getting her a pink megaphone for Christmas so she could call for the boys. Kimberly went on to say “It was one of the kindest things Brad did for me-It was hilarious and necessary.” She goes on to boast about how her husband, Brad Paisley, never fails to keep her laughing.
Kimberly Williams-Paisley Opens Up About Her Struggles
Kimberly went on to explain one of the biggest obstacles she faced in her social life. She shared an experience where her boys had performed in a play. After the play there was a celebration for the children. Due to her voice, she found it hard to make conversation and volunteered to just clean up after instead of participating. She said she had “gotten so used to closing myself off.”
While everyone else was celebrating Kimberly shared that she went to the car and called her sister, Ashley Williams. Kimberly says she remembers just sitting in the car sobbing. Like Brad, her children tried to find ways to help her through it. She said, “It was so tiring for me to talk on the phone, so my kids and Brad would talk for me.”
Thankfully Kimberly Williams-Paisley underwent surgery in August, and her voice has now returned.
