Born as Matthew Ventress, Destinee Lashaee broke the mold as the very first transgender individual to appear on My 600-Lb. Life. Buried in the hundreds of rest in peace messages, are the details related to her cause of death.
Sadly, the My 600-Lb. Life cast member’s cause of death seems to be connected to her battle with mental health and depression. The messages on Destinee Lashaee’s reveal she lost her battle with her depression and committed suicide.
It was Destinee’s brother, Wayne Compton, who shared this tragic update that Destinee Lashaee was dead.

Wayne Compton penned a beautiful tribute to his sister Destinee as he announced her death, hinted at her cause of death, and mourned her passing.
Wayne penned: “I’m sorry bro, I accept you for who you are, I accept every flaw that come with you.”
I’m sorry you felt alone, I’m sorry you felt you had nobody else to turn too, I’m sorry you felt you had no other option Destiny wouldn’t of wanted this, lord why keep taking my siblings away, how much can I take.”
Her last few Facebook posts were concerning
A deep dive past all of the messages mourning her passing reveal Destinee Lashaee was struggling with her mental health and depression days before her passing. On February 5th and February 4th, Destinee posted messages that now read like someone who was contemplating suicide and trying to say goodbye to their loved ones.
In a separate post the day before the one featured above, Destinee talked about floating in an ocean of her tears.
In the comments of many of Destinee’s Facebook posts in the days before her death, many wish someone would have taken the concerning posts more seriously.
“He was reaching out and literally screaming for help in our faces this hurts very very bad, I’m sorry this happen to you Matthew Ventress.” One individual penned in the comments.

Destinee Lashaee was suing My 600-Lb. Life production
Fans of My 600-Lb. Life first met Destinee Lashaee back in 2019 when she appeared on Season 7 of the series. At 27-years-old, Destinee joined the cast of the show weighing 669-Lbs. After being on the show, she was able to drop over 500 pounds. At the time of her passing, Destinee was in the process of suing the production of My 600-Lb. Life.
She was seeking $1 million in damages. She is one of many cast members to take legal action against the production team. Likewise, she isn’t the first cast member with an active lawsuit against production to pass away.
On Reddit and Facebook, there is a lot of chatter and speculation that perhaps the lawsuits seeking damage against the production team are valid. Is it possible Dr. Now does not take proper care of his patient’s mental health as they pursue weight loss?
