Swamp People: Serpent Invasion recently came back for its fifth season. However, a recent clip shows python season coming to an end. As the clip goes on, two of the hunters will face off against a dangerous snake all on their own.
Swamp People: Serpent Invasion Sees The Hunters Protect Local Wetlands
Even when python hunting season draws to a close, things could still get dangerous. After all, the wetlands is already being impacted by a growing number of pythons. It is up to the hunters of Swamp People: Serpent Invasion to catch them and prevent the invasive species from doing more damage to the ecosystem.
The History YouTube channel recently shared a clip of the upcoming Swamp People: Serpent Invasion Season 5 episode “Do or Die.” As the announcer reveals, “The final day of python season has arrived.”

The hunters are seen gathering at Dusty’s “to go over the marching orders for their last hunt. It’s a big one.”
Once everyone’s gathered, Troy could be heard getting things in order. Calling everyone to pay attention to Dusty, he says, “All right, listen. Let’s stay focused. Dusty.”
Dusty himself shares, “It’s been a hard hunt, huh this time?” After hearing a “Yeah,” he continued, “And we’re getting to the end of it. I know there’s one big waterway that heading up to this big wetland area.”
After A False Start, A Python Soon Emerges
As the announcer reveals, the team is to head up to Lake Elizabeth Wetlands. The area is said to have ideal conditions for native and migratory birds.
However, rainstorms have created new waterways into the area. Dusty fears that pythons would use them to invade the area. This could put the birds in the area in great danger.

Troy noted, “You know, these snakes are remarkable in the way they can adapt. The population is just moving. It’s like a march. They just marching north now.”
“So, I feel it’s very important to protet places like this. We need to do what we can to try to preserve the wetlands. and hold the snakes off as long as we can.”
It’s soon decided that the best option is to spread out. During their initial arrival, Troy and “Pickle” Wheat come across a dead bird. However, a python would have likely eaten it whole, suggesting a raccoon killed the bird, meaning the team needs to look deeper to find the snakes.
Soon, Pickle does indeed come across a snake. A concerned Troy even calls her by her nickname, “Pee Wee.” Eventually, Pickle grabs a hold of the snake, with Troy helping her to hold it up.
Both Troy & Pickle Will Face Off Against A Python On Their Own
Unfortunately, the snake escapes their grasp and starts hissing at them. Pickle tries to keep him distracted, asking Troy to stop moving. As the snake becomes focused on Troy, Pickle is given another chance to grab the snake.
Fortunately, Pickle makes the catch. As the narrator notes, “This catch near the end of the season and in a formerly untouched wetland area feels particularly bittersweet for Pickle.” As Pickle noted, she’s happy to be making money, but “We’re trying to diminish the population.”
On the second day, Pickle once again finds herself going up against a snake. Hissing and lunging at her, she is able to catch it in the end. This causes her to quip, “Man, it’s hard catching ’em by yourself.”
The announcer reveals Pickle just caught a six-foot male before it could breed. As it was shared, something like this was the very reason the hunters wanted to detail the area in the first place.
Soon, it becomes Troy’s turn to face a snake by himself. This time, he encounters a ten-footer. As he muses, “To be honest, I wish I could do more to save the Everglades. I feel in my heart what we doing is just the tip of the iceberg, and I wish I could do a lot, lot more.”
