The 2002 Laci Peterson murder case is back in the spotlight again thanks to the Netflix series American Murder: Laci Peterson. However, there is a second documentary that just popped up on a different streaming service, and it offers something brand new to the story. Scott Peterson is telling his side of the story, and he has a “theory” on who killed his wife.
Here is a look at the second documentary and what it offers fans of true crime.
Face To Face With Scott Peterson Hits Peacock
Face To Face With Scott Peterson offers a look at the other side of the Laci Peterson murder case. For the first time in 20 years, Scott is giving his thoughts on the case, and he has his theory of who killed his wife, as he still proclaims his innocence. However, Scott is almost unrecognizable in the interview, as he is gaunt and has lost weight over the years.

Scott Peterson was convicted almost 20 years ago for the murder of his wife, Laci Peterson, and their unborn child. The high-profile case saw him sentenced to the death penalty, although that never happened. In 2020, the death penalty conviction was overturned, and he was sentenced to life without parole instead.
However, Scott still claims he is innocent. He says that the real murderers are still walking around free. “I didn’t kill my family,” Peterson said in Face to Face, the three-part docuseries directed by Shareen Anderson and Po Kutchins.
Scott still believes that there were burglaries in his neighborhood, and that is what led to Laci’s death. He mentions a van in the area that was torched after her disappearance. He also said, “There are so many instances where there was evidence that didn’t fit the detectives’ theory that they ignored.”
As for why he wants to do the interview now, he said this is for his family. He said he wants to “get the reality out there” and “show people what the truth is.” He said the only goal here is to take “a little bit of hurt off my family.”
How Is Face to Face with Scott Peterson Different?
The new docuseries Face to Face with Scott Peterson premiered on Peacock on Tuesday, less than a week after American Murder: Laci Peterson hit Netflix last week. The difference is that the Netflix documentary details the murder and the criminal case.
However, the Peacock documentary has an interview with Scott Peterson. It also spends a lot of time reexamining the police investigation and offering alternate theories. This version is about asking, “What if Scott Peterson is innocent and the real murderer got away with it?”
Scott is open about a lot of his past, including saying he was an “a-hole to be having sex outside our marriage.” He also points fingers at Amber Frey, who he had an affair with, claiming she thought they had something more than they did. The documentary also talks to Janey Peterson, Laci’s sister, who still believes Scott is innocent.
This also comes hot on the heels of the Los Angeles Innocence Project taking an interest in the case and investigating all of Scott’s claims that could prove his innocence. One big thing is that a judge ruled the duct tape on Laci’s thigh could be retested for DNA.
