The show follows Naofumi Iwatani, an otaku who becomes a Cardinal Hero after being summoned to the kingdom of Melromarc from modern-day Japan.
After getting betrayed by his own allies, the protagonist still manages to continue his fight for the greater good.
In Season 1, after getting transported to the kingdom of Melromarc, Naofumi was betrayed by his allies and was forced to buy a demi-human slave to join his fight.
By the end of the season finale, Naofumi was able to win people to his side. That was especially the case when he was accused of a crime he didn’t commit. It seemed as if he managed to win over the hearts of the general public. However, Glass almost manages to kill him after she comes up with a theory that there is some connection between the Cardinal heroes and the hordes of monsters that have destroyed her people.
In The Rising Of The Shield Hero Season 2, Naofumi and his friends will head to other nations and learn how to deal with what has become a near-constant threat from monsters. The mystery behind the origins of the interdimensional horde of monsters will apparently also be revealed.
It turns out that revelation will allow Naofumi to come one step closer to exterminating those monsters that are plaguing mankind for good.
The show’s first season was met with both critical and commercial success. It had fantastic ratings for a streaming series and now that it’s getting a follow-up season people want to know where they can see it.
