Interview with the Vampire Season 4: Teaser, Cast, and Everything to Know About Queen of the Damned

What does a television show do after a season finale as jaw-dropping as the one The Vampire Lestat gave us? Go for a full rebrand, of course. The series formerly known as Interview with the Vampire will return for a fourth season and will now be called Queen of the Damned, named after the third book in Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles series.

When he spoke to TV Guide ahead of the Lestat finale, executive producer (and showrunner of the series’ first three seasons) Rolin Jones teased the reappearance of Sheila Atim’s Akasha in a then-unconfirmed fourth season: “[Akasha’s] got one scene [in The Vampire Lestat], for crying out loud. That’s coming. That’s what’s coming.”

AMC announced Interview with the Vampire‘s Season 4 renewal during the series’ panel at San Diego Comic-Con in July. The series will get another name change, with the new season set to be titled Queen of the Damned. But that’s not the only shake-up: Executive producer Hannah Moscovitch will take over showrunning duties from Rolin Jones, who will stay on as an executive producer.

The announcement of Queen of the Damned came with a short teaser that features Sheila Atim’s Akasha, the mother of all vampires, who was introduced in Episode 4 of The Vampire Lestat, which showed how Lestat first awoke her from her slumber. In the teaser, Akasha advises women to “get up out of the ditches where they have thrown you” and to follow her to “where the men are gathered.” See you there, girl!

Unlike the Season 3 renewal announcement, which included a statement from Jones that specifically mentioned characters like Lestat (Sam Reid), Louis (Jacob Anderson), Daniel (Eric Bogosian), and more, the Queen of the Damned announcement doesn’t mention any characters by name. Additionally, AMC hasn’t officially announced the returns of any cast members.

Considering that the season is named after her and that she appears in the first teaser, it seems safe to assume that Sheila Atim will return as Akasha. (Never mind that we still have to see exactly what Lestat did to reawaken her for the second time, which apparently caused mass destruction across Montreal.)

Lestat himself also has unfinished business after somehow bringing on the end of the world, which means that we can likely expect Sam Reid to return as well. And we still don’t know what Louis was doing at the auction teased at the very beginning of the Lestat season premiere, so it seems likely that we haven’t seen the last of Anderson either. Additionally, Bogosian and Assad Zaman, who plays Armand, have already spoken about what they’d like to see from Daniel and Armand in Season 4. It’s worth noting that Queen of the Damned is the book that contains the iconic “Devil’s Minion” chapter that fans are clamoring to see on screen.
