Melanie Scrofano Says Wynonna Earp Fans ‘Taught Us What It Looks Like to Fight’

Breaking News

It’s been a tough year for Earpers. The future of the cult Syfy drama Wynonna Earp was in jeopardy after funding issues plagued production company IDW Entertainment, but the show’s fandom refused to let the demon-hunting drama go down without a fight. The fans campaigned hard to get a fourth season of Wynonna, and in July the community celebrated when the series was given the greenlight to move forward with production in 2020.

It was an emotional journey, and the cast and crew know that they wouldn’t be preparing to go back to set in the new year if it wasn’t for all the fans who contributed to the #FightforWynonna campaign. “Thank you doesn’t seem like enough of a word to say how much we are grateful,” Katherine Barrell said, sharing a message to fans, earlier this month. “But I’m so proud of you guys for fighting — but not only fighting, but also kind and respectful and proving that when a group of people get behind something that they really love they can truly move mountains.”

“You guys taught us what it looks like to fight,” said Melanie Scrofano. “And I can’t wait to fight for you guys and put all that fight that you gave to us and put it on screen. We love you.”

Wynonna Earp Stars Share Their Hopes and Predictions for Season 4

When Season 4 became official earlier this summer, showrunner Emily Andras said she cleared her entire schedule that afternoon just to celebrate with the Earpers. “I felt like my feelings of winning were shared by all these people around the world — some of whom I’ve met, some of whom I’ve never met. But it felt like we had done it together,” Andras told TV Guide.

“I knew what the fandom was about but I’m still so moved and astonished at how hard they fought for the show,” the showrunner said. “When the chips were down, they really went for it. They bought billboards in New York’s Times Square. They tweeted their guts out. It felt like we were all in it together. So it really feels like the show is all of ours. It belongs to all of us, and that’s just a pretty crazy feeling.”
