SEAL Team Showrunner Steps Down Following CBS Investigation

Breaking News

CBS is parting ways with SEAL Team executive producer John Glenn following an internal investigation by CBS TV Studios, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The studio has also terminated Glenn’s overall deal, which was nearing its end.

In a statement made to THR, Glenn said, “I am proud of the work we did — and greatly enjoyed having the chance to contribute to its creative and commercial success. During my time as showrunner, I was pleased to be able to hire, develop and support numerous producers, writers and crew members who shared our passion for trying to make the series all it could be. While producing a show like SEAL Team is hard work, I also believed strongly in listening to any concerns that were brought my way and making important concessions for our staff’s professional needs and personal lives. I look forward to my next steps professionally.”

It is unclear what was discovered in the internal investigation, but THR reports that the claims made against Glenn were not sexual in nature. Glenn’s attorney told the magazine that Glenn “disputes any findings reached in CBS’ investigation.” Executive producer Spencer Hudnut will take over showrunning duties in the interim.

This is just the latest in a series of departures at CBS. In Oct. 2018 NCIS: New Orleans showrunner Brad Kern was dismissed following a third investigation into his allegedly abusive behavior. A month prior, CBS Chairman and CEO Leslie Moonves stepped down following allegations of sexual harassment.

Meanwhile, CBS has repeatedly come under fire for renewing Bull for a fourth season after the show’s star, Michael Weatherly, was accused of harassment by former recurring guest star Eliza Dushku, whose allegations were revealed in late 2018 when an unrelated investigation uncovered a $9.5 million settlement between CBS and Dushku.

TV Guide has reached out to CBS and to Glenn’s attorney for comment.
