It was a terrible, horrible, no good day for Bailey (Chandra Wilson) on Thursday’s Grey’s Anatomy. First, her award-winning protégé Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) had an article published that flushed Grey Sloan’s pristine reputation to hell. Second, she’s started menopause and hot flashes suck when you’re already stressed. Oh, she’s also pregnant.
That’s right: Bailey found she’s entering menopause and that she’s going to have another baby in the same breath. Hope you’re into the idea of being a big brother, Tuck! This means that both Bailey and Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) are going to be pregnant at the same time as Teddy (Kim Raver) adjusts to life as a new mom. Seriously, there’s going to be a baby uprising at this hospital if people aren’t careful.

Bailey was not at all prepared for the bombshell dropped at the end of the episode, and it’s not like she doesn’t have enough on her plate. Meredith’s article has doctors and patients alike fleeing from Grey Sloan, and Karev (Justin Chambers) is more than happy to offer them shelter at Pacific Northwest. Hunt (Kevin McKidd) was the latest to trade in his Grey Sloan blue scrubs for Pac North’s olive green ones. If Bailey thinks that telling Ben (Jason George) is difficult, try decorating a nursery when your hospital is hemorrhaging staff.
At least she has Amelia to commiserate with, as the brain surgeon is handling her own pregnancy surprisingly well. Link (Chris Carmack) even dropped the L-bomb in Thursday’s episode, and while Amelia looked like a deer caught in headlights, he once again said all of the magic words and she didn’t run from the room screaming. That’s called growth.
