Chapelwaite will not be returning for a second season. MGM+ (formerly EPIX) has cancelled the horror drama after one season of 10 episodes.

Starring Adrien Brody, Emily Hampshire, Jennifer Ens, Sirena Gulamgaus, Ian Ho, and Eric Peterson, the series is based on Jerusalem’s Lot by Stephen King. The story follows a widower (Brody) as he raises his three daughters and moves the family to his ancestrial home in a small town in Maine.

The first season of Chapelwaite aired on EPIX in 2021 and the outlet announced that a second season was in development in February 2022.

Via social media, co-creator and executive producer Jason Filardi broke the news of the show’s cancellation:

“I’m afraid Captain Boone’s story ends on that beach of weathered, Maine sand. There will be no Season 2. Thank you to all the Chapelwaite fans!”

What do you think? Were you looking forward to Chapelwaite season two? Are you sad that the series has been cancelled?
