Charles Nieuwendyk is officially heading back into the field. Following the big news back in February that Netflix’s hit Mike Schur comedy A Man on the Inside is returning for a third season, we now have an update on when cameras will be rolling—and when we think the new season will drop on Netflix.
As we noted back in February, many months after season 2 dropped, viewership for that second season fell sharply, leading us to question whether the show would be back. Thankfully, Netflix didn’t want to let Charles retire and picked up the show for additional episodes.
Now, many months later, thanks to a new production listing, we have a concrete timeline for when the cast and crew will return to work, but we can almost certainly rule out a 2026 return. As a result, it breaks the show’s annual cadence, with season 1 dropping on November 21st, 2024, and season 2 almost exactly a year later on November 20th, 2025.

When is A Man on the Inside Season 3 filming?
According to the latest production documents, filming for the third season is slated to kick off in the early fall. Cameras are tentatively scheduled to roll starting September 21st, 2026, with production wrapping relatively quickly on November 3rd, 2026. The show continues to call California its home, with filming in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

With a firm wrap date of November 3rd, 2026, we can put together a pretty solid estimate for when Season 3 will land on our screens.
Half-hour comedies usually require a much shorter post-production window compared to Netflix’s VFX-heavy sci-fi and fantasy juggernauts. Typically, a Mike Schur comedy takes anywhere from four to six months to complete editing, scoring, and localization before it’s ready for a global rollout.
Given the holiday season immediately follows the production wrap, post-production will likely run through the winter and finish up in early spring. Therefore, our prediction for the release of A Man on the Inside Season 3 is Q2 2027, specifically around April or May 2027.
