Netflix has just released the official trailer, key art, and a batch of gorgeous new stills for its highly anticipated animated feature, Steps. Arriving globally on November 20th, 2026, the movie promises to turn the classic fairy tale completely on its head.
We’ve been keeping a close eye on this project for a while now, covering everything from its early first look reveals to its massive presentation at the Annecy Film Festival. Now, with the first trailer officially out in the wild, it’s clear that Netflix’s animation division has another massive hit on its hands.
Let’s dive into the new trailer, the stunning new images, and everything you need to know about the upcoming fantasy comedy.
First Look at the Trailer and Key Art
Right off the bat, the trailer lets us know this isn’t your grandmother’s fairy tale. We’re introduced to Lilith, voiced by the incomparable Ali Wong, who breaks the fourth wall to set the record straight about her “evil” reputation.
Packed with high-speed carriage chases, glass slippers being smashed to bits, and some very angry biker trolls, the footage leans heavily into action-comedy territory. We also get a fun nod to the movie’s pedigree, boldly declaring it comes from the studio that brought us the massive blockbuster K-Pop Demon Hunters.

What is Steps about?
If you’re wondering exactly how the fairy tale goes off the rails, here is the official synopsis provided by Netflix:
“Think you know Cinderella’s “evil” stepsisters? Think again. Sick of living in Cinderella’s shadow, Lilith (Ali Wong) steals the Fairy Godmother (Bette Midler)’s magic wand and hijacks the Royal Ball with her sister Margot (Stephanie Hsu), breaking the Cinderella story as we know it and dooming the kingdom to the tyrannical rule of Priscilla (Nikki Glaser), a villainous schemer who swoops in and snatches the throne. Now, Lilith must team up with Cinderella (Amanda Seyfried) to fight biker trolls, outrun evil henchmen, and escape the Screaming Woods on an epic quest to save the kingdom, but most importantly, their relationship.”
Alongside the trailer, Netflix dropped several brand-new stills showcasing the vibrant animation style, giving us a peek at Lilith wielding the stolen magic wand, a rather stressful carriage ride with Cinderella, and the tyrannical Priscilla taking a croquet mallet to a glass slipper.
