South Indian content is Netflix’s focus in 2026. We’ve already seen the debut of half of the slate of Tamil and Telugu Originals Netflix previously revealed, and the streamer surprised us with another new Original Tamil movie coming August 21: Pyaar Prema Kalyanam (“Love Love Wedding“). With this new addition the catalogue, Netflix is scheduled to release at least one new Tamil, Telugu, or Malayalam movie — both Originals and theatrical acquisitions — every week for the rest of 2026.
Pyaar Prema Kalyanam is a spiritual sequel to 2018’s Pyaar Prema Kaadhal (“Love Love Love“, which is not on Netflix), the directorial debut of writer and lyricist Elan. He directs the sequel as well, and also steps in front of the camera to star in this new film about an unusual living arrangement. After marriage, an Indian bride traditionally moves into the home shared by her husband and his parents. In Pyaar Prema Kalyanam, the husband moves in with his wife and her parents. Elan shares his hopes for the film:

Pyaar Prema Kalyanam is produced by Sreenidhi Sagar for Rise East Entertainment, the studio behind the Netflix Original Tamil movie Made in Korea. The film is written by debutant screenwriter Nivedita Pohankar, with music by composer Yuvan Shankar Raja (Maareesan).
What is the plot of Pyaar Prema Kalyanam?

The film follows Pavi (Saanvee Meghana), a popular influencer who refuses to leave her family home after marriage. Instead, it’s her husband, Elan, who moves in with her, setting off a hilarious chain of culture clashes, family chaos, shifting expectations, and heartfelt self-discovery. As the newlyweds navigate their unconventional arrangement, they soon realise that perhaps the biggest tradition worth challenging is the idea that everyone else gets to define their happily ever after.
Who is cast in Pyaar Prema Kalyanam?
Saanve Megghana (Anaganaga Oka Raju) plays the unconventional bride, Pavi. This is her second Netflix Original project, having previously played the title character in the segment “Ramula” from the 2021 Telugu anthology Pitta Kathalu.
Elan plays Elan, Pavi’s new husband.
