A massive new series is in the works at Netflix with the adaptation of Dan Brown’s sixth novel of the Robert Langdon series, The Secret of Secrets. Led by showrunner Carlton Cuse, the series has found its Robert Langdon in Morgan Spector, and filming is slated to get underway in late August 2026. Here’s everything we know about the new Dan Brown series on Netflix, including the plot, cast, production, and release date.
The new Netflix series (currently untitled), led by writer and showrunner Carlton Cuse (Locke & Key), is an adaptation of Dan Brown’s The Secret of Secrets, the sixth novel to feature symbologist Robert Langdon. Brown is one of the world’s most renowned thriller authors thanks to his work on the Robert Langdon series.
Three of the six books have been adapted into films: The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, and Inferno, which starred Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon and grossed over $1.46 billion at the box office. The third novel and prequel to The Da Vinci Code was adapted into a series in 2021 and released by US network Peacock.

Carlton Cuse is joined by his son, Nick Cuse, as a writer on the series. Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) is directing the series. Cuse is joined by Dan Brown as an executive producer on the series, alongside Emma Forman for Genre Arts and Zoe Robyn. Other producers listed for the series are Robert Levine, Julia Brownell, Melissa Park, Matthew Stillman, and David Minkowski.
Cuse shared with Netflix his excitement about the upcoming series:
“The chance to work with Dan Brown to bring Robert Langdon into a new chapter on screen is a genuine thrill. was drawn in by the combination of exciting elements. It’s a propulsive thriller set in a fantastic location: Prague. It’s also a great love story, and a provocative exploration of human consciousness. What is the plot of The Secrets of Secrets?
As an adaptation of The Secrets of Secrets, the plot of the series will closely follow Dan Brown’s novel, for which Netflix has released a synopsis:
“The series will follow Langdon as he races against ancient forces — and the clock — to rescue a missing scientist and recover her groundbreaking manuscript. The contents of the manuscript could forever change humanity’s understanding of the mind. Blending futuristic science with mystical lore, the adaptation will deliver the suspense, jet-setting intrigue, and era-spanning mysteries that have made Brown’s Langdon novels a global phenomenon.”

Who are the cast members of the series?
Morgan Spector plays the lead role of Robert Langdon, a Harvard professor and world-renowned symbologist. The actor is best known for starring in shows such as HBO’s The Gilded Age and Boardwalk Empire, and Netflix titles such as Orange Is the New Black, The Mist, and Black Rabbit. He also starred in The Plot Against America, Pearson, Suits, Homeland, and Person of Interest.
Showrunner Cuse shared his excitement with Netflix about Spector’s casting as Langdon:

Rebecca Hall plays Katherine Solomon. The actress is best known for films such as Vicky Cristina Barcelona, The Town, The Prestige, and Christine. Netflix subscribers can see her in action on Netflix in the film Passing, and in the upcoming 4th installment of Ryan Murphy’s Monster anthology, Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story.

Other confirmed cast members are Cherry Jones (Succession) as Heide Nagel, Corey Stoll (Billions) as Everett Finch, Rob Delaney (Dying for Sex) as Jonas Faukman, and Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road) as Sasha Vesna.

What is the production status of the series?

According to the Prague reporter, filming is imminent in the Czech Republic’s capital. This coincides with our previous report that filming was to begin in late August 2026 and run through mid-March 2027.
When will the series be released on Netflix?
There is no confirmed release date for the series.
Given the filming schedule, it’s possible we could see a late 2027 release. 2028 is more realistic, but we’ll learn more once Netflix publishes its 2027 series slate early next year.
