Evil Multiple Seasons Coming To Netflix

Evil is about to air its fourth and fifth seasons on Paramount+, and if you need another way to rewatch all the older episodes, Netflix has just revealed that it’ll soon be streaming multiple seasons of the show in the US starting April 30th.

Created by Robert and Michelle King, the supernatural thriller series stars Katja Herbers, Mike Colter, and Aasif Mandvi, all hired by the Catholic Church to investigate paranormal events.

Beginning on CBS for season 1, the show moved to Paramount+ for its second and third seasons. Evil wrapped up its third season in mid-2022.

Dubbed a Paramount+ Original the show has been renewed for a full fourth season and a shortened fifth and final season to wrap things up. Those are both scheduled to release throughout the remainder of 2024, with season 4 kicking off on May 23rd, 2024, on Paramount+.

Long-term Netflix US subscribers will know that Evil has been on Netflix before. As revealed in late 2020, Netflix would be the temporary streaming home for Evil Season 1 from October 2020 through October 2021. It got it on a temporary basis alongside The Unicorn. Back then, Deadline noted that the deal was in place for a year in hopes that the series would find new audiences.

Since October 2021, the show hasn’t been available on Netflix, and the series hasn’t made its way to Netflix internationally either.

When will Evil be back on Netflix?

We can confirm today that “multiple seasons” of the CBS drama will be available on Netflix on April 30th, 2024, but only in the United States. We should also note that this addition wasn’t included in the original April 2024 lineup (but we will include it in ours soon!).

We haven’t had confirmation on the number of seasons coming to Netflix US, but we do know it’ll be at least two. Given that it’s dropping just before season 4 airs, we suspect it’ll be all three of the prior seasons.

The addition to Netflix is not expected to impact the show’s current availability on Paramount+, where all three seasons are streaming. New episodes of season 4 are expected to drop soon after they air in the US on CBS.

Why is Evil coming to Netflix?

Perhaps the bigger question should be why is a Paramount+ Original series coming to Netflix? Well, it comes down to multiple factors and this isn’t the first title to drop on Netflix either. School Spirits was licensed by Netflix in late 2023 and most recently, Netflix has become the full streaming home for the animated Star Trek series Prodigy.

Netflix is leaning into licensing heavily right now, which has seen the release of thousands of episodes from other distributors at a time when they’re all becoming more lax on licensing to Netflix again as their pocketbooks become tighter. Paramount, in particular, is in a tough position and is currently going through negotiations for a new owner.
