It’s been a hefty wait, but fans will get to see the relationship between Taiki and Chinatsu unfold further in Blue Box season 2 from October 4, 2026. Here’s everything we know about the second season.
Blue Box is a Japanese Netflix Original anime series and the adaptation of Kouji Miura’s manga Ao no Hako. Telecom Animation Film is the studio behind the production of the anime, with Yūichirō Yano as the writer and director.
Taiki Inomata, a freshman at Eimei Senior High, is a member of the high school badminton team and is in love with Chinatsu Kano, a second-year and the ace of the girls’ basketball team.
Blue Box Renewed for Season 2
The renewal of Blue Box was announced at the end of March, following the 25th and final episode of the first season.
The official YouTube channel and other social media accounts for TMS Anime announced the news with a promotional video.
When is Blue Box season 2 coming to Netflix?
We’ve known for some time that Blue Box season 2 would be coming to Netflix in October 2026. It has recently been confirmed that the first episode will premiere on October 4, 2026.

An official trailer for the second season has been released.
How much of the manga has the anime covered so far?
At the time of writing, there are 196 published chapters of the Blue Box manga. The 25 anime episodes from the first season covered 79 manga chapters (volumes 1-9).

How much of the manga will season 2 cover?
If the second season covers a similar number of chapters and volumes as the first season, then we would expect season 2 to end with the events of Volume 18, which covers chapters 154-162.
We’ll speculate that the second season will end with the events of chapter 161. Manga readers will understand why we’ve made this prediction.
