My Life with the Walter Boys returned with a bang for Season 3, and if you’ve already binged your way through the latest drama in Silver Falls, you’re likely eager for more. Fortunately, you won’t have to wait in suspense regarding the show’s future.

As we previously reported, Netflix officially renewed My Life with the Walter Boys for Season 4 well ahead of time at the Upfronts this year. The swift renewal has certainly paid off for the streamer. According to our latest Netflix Top 10 report, Season 3 debuted to stellar numbers, with viewership holding exceptionally strong in the Global Top 10 rankings, showing only a minor drop-off season over season. Reviews also remain strong. 

Season 4 Production & Filming Updates

The wait for new episodes is officially on, and production is currently underway. We can confirm that filming for Season 4 began on July 27, 2026, and is scheduled to run through the fall, wrapping up on November 20, 2026.

Netflix itself confirmed production was underway on August 5th with a snap behind the scenes along with a statement from showrunner and executive producer Melanie Halsall, who said: “I know I speak for the writers, the cast, and the crew when I say that it is beyond exciting to be returning to the world of Silver Falls for a fourth season. We are all incredibly grateful and are thrilled to dive in.”

Once again, the picturesque landscapes of Calgary, Alberta, Canada will serve as the real-life backdrop for the fictional town of Silver Falls, Colorado. The series has an estimated per-episode budget of $5-$7M.

While a 2027 release has been confirmed, the current production schedule almost certainly suggests we’re heading for another summer outing. 

With production in full swing and the Season 3 finale leaving us on one of the biggest cliffhangers of the series so far, where do Jackie, Cole, Alex, and the rest of the Walter family go from here?

What to Expect in Season 4

My Life with the Walter Boys Season 3 leaves plenty for Season 4 to deal with, but one question comes before everything else: what happened to Cole after his car flipped?

The finale also leaves Jackie in a complicated place after kissing Elliot, Alex searching for a new direction after walking away from rodeo, and several members of the Walter family preparing for major changes.

Where Season 3 Leaves Everyone

Season 3 begins with the Walter family dealing with George’s recovery after his stroke. For Jackie, his health scare also becomes a reminder that she can’t keep making decisions based entirely on fear. She finally admits that her feelings for Cole never went away, and the two begin a relationship. It doesn’t last.

Jackie is trying to balance school and track while turning an abandoned corner store into a community center for Silver Falls teenagers. Cole, meanwhile, finds a new passion in drag racing after struggling to imagine a future without football.

Richard’s return, along with Jackie’s childhood friend Elliot, brings Jackie’s old life in New York back into the picture. Cole starts worrying that being with him could hold Jackie back from the future she once planned and eventually breaks up with her.

Elsewhere, Alex realizes that rodeo isn’t the future he wants and finally stops forcing himself to follow a path that makes him unhappy. His relationship with Kiley also changes after they unexpectedly kiss, although Alex ultimately steps aside when he sees how close she and Dylan have become.

Change is coming for the older Walter siblings too. Nathan earns a place on a European music tour, Will and his wife prepare to move for a new job opportunity, and Danny is accepted into college, raising questions about what leaving Silver Falls will mean for his relationship with Erin.

By the finale, however, the biggest unresolved story is once again Jackie and Cole.

What Happens to Cole After the Crash?

The most obvious question heading into Season 4 is whether Cole is okay after his car flips. We know the show is not going to kill him, but we don’t think he’ll walk away from the crash completely unharmed either. The strongest possibility is that Cole re-injures the same leg that ended his football career and changed his plans for college in Season 1.

Cole has only just found something that gives him the same sense of purpose he once got from football, and losing the ability to race would force him to confront that loss all over again. This time, though, losing racing wouldn’t necessarily mean losing that world altogether. Mac has given Cole an introduction to cars and racing, and Season 4 could move him toward the mechanic or team side instead of putting him straight back behind the wheel. Cole has spent a lot of the series trying to figure out who he is when he can’t be the person he thought he would become. Another injury would bring that question right back to the surface, but this time he may be better equipped to answer it.

One theory we don’t expect the show to pursue is memory loss. Amnesia has already been floated among fans as a possible consequence of the crash, but My Life with the Walter Boys has remained relatively grounded even when it goes big. More importantly, having Cole forget Jackie or the events leading up to the accident would wipe away much of the emotional work Season 3 spent ten episodes building. The finale finally gets Cole to understand where he went wrong. Season 4 has much more to work with if he remembers all of it.

When Does Season 4 Take Place?

Before getting too far into the predictions, there is one problem: we don’t actually know exactly when Season 3 ends. Season 2 ends in winter, and Season 3 covers several weeks while George is in the hospital. Other clues, including the sports schedules and college admissions letters arriving, suggest we’ve moved into spring by the finale, but there isn’t a firm date given on screen.

That makes the beginning of Season 4 important. It could pick up immediately after the crash, or it could jump ahead.

The difference is important. An immediate return means Cole’s crash, Jackie’s kiss with Elliot, and everything left unsaid between Jackie and Cole are still fresh. A time jump could mean Cole is already well into his recovery and Jackie and Elliot have had time to find out whether that kiss was the beginning of something or simply a moment at the community center.

It also affects who is still around. Will is preparing to move away with his wife for her new job, while Nathan is supposed to leave on a European tour. Depending on when Season 4 begins, we could be saying goodbye to Will and, at least temporarily, Nathan almost immediately.

Where Does the Crash Leave Jackie and Cole?

Cole was trying to get back to Jackie when he crashed, but Jackie doesn’t know that.

Jackie ended Season 3 believing Cole had made his decision about their relationship. She kissed Elliot because she was trying to move forward, not because she knew Cole had changed his mind. An immediate Jackie and Cole reunion after the accident would therefore undo a lot of what the finale deliberately put in their way.

There’s a real case for Jackie giving Elliot an actual chance. Elliot isn’t simply another obstacle dropped between Jackie and Cole. He connects Jackie to New York and to the life she had before Silver Falls, while also being there for the person she has become since. Giving that relationship some room in Season 4 would force Jackie to work out what she actually wants rather than immediately being pulled back into the same relationship.

And then there’s Alex. Alex knows something Jackie doesn’t: why Cole really broke up with her. He knows Cole convinced himself that leaving Jackie was the right thing to do because he thought he was holding her back.

If Cole’s injuries prevent him from immediately having that conversation with Jackie, Alex could be the person holding the missing piece. Whether he tells her, and when, could change Jackie’s understanding of the breakup completely.

Other Burning Questions for Season 4

• What Comes Next for Alex, Kiley and Dylan? Don’t expect Alex and Kiley to immediately get together. Season 3 actually gives Alex something he hasn’t always had when it comes to relationships: restraint. He recognizes that Kiley has allowed Dylan into an important part of her life, and instead of turning it into another competition, he steps back. Alex’s bigger Season 4 story, though, could be what happens after rodeo. Walking away from Hartford doesn’t mean he has to walk away from horses. More time at the clinic or working with Katherine and the horses would give him a direction that isn’t built around Hartford’s approval, competing with Cole, or trying to live up to anyone else’s expectations.
• Can Danny and Erin Make Long-Distance Work? Danny and Erin already know college is going to change their relationship. Erin doesn’t want Danny choosing a school around her, and she has made that clear. That makes long-distance the most natural place for Season 4 to start. Visits, missed time together, fall break, and the reality of Danny building a life somewhere else could all test a relationship that has spent most of the series developing in Silver Falls. That said, I wouldn’t completely rule out a secret wedding. Quietly getting married and then having the Walter family discover it later would certainly be a bigger move than the show usually makes, but it wouldn’t come entirely out of nowhere.
• Could Isaac and Lee’s Father Enter the Story? Hannah leaves again in Season 3, but her return does at least force some of the unresolved hurt between her and her sons into the open. That leaves another part of Isaac and Lee’s family we still know very little about: their father. Whether that means he gets out of prison or simply becomes more present in their lives in another way, bringing him into the story would give Isaac and Lee something new to deal with.
• Will Katherine and Parker Get Their Own Stories? Katherine has spent three seasons being the person everyone else comes to. It’s time Katherine gets something equivalent. We’ve already met George’s sister, so why not finally meet someone from Katherine’s side of the family? An episode that puts Katherine at the center instead of asking her to solve somebody else’s problem feels overdue. And that should include Parker, who has spent most of Season 3 in the background. We’ve had plenty of Katherine in her role as Jackie’s guardian, but relatively little time with Katherine and her own daughter. Giving Parker a real storyline would create an easy opportunity to change that. (And then there’s Jordan. Or, as I called him for an embarrassing amount of Season 3, “Wait, which Walter brother is that?” At this point, I’d settle for enough screen time to remember he lives there.)
• Are Will and Nathan Leaving? Will’s Season 3 ending certainly looks like an exit. He and his wife are preparing to move away for her new job, and considering how little Will has had to do across Seasons 2 and 3, there isn’t an obvious reason for the series to immediately bring him back. Nathan’s situation is slightly different. His European tour gives the show a believable reason for him to disappear for part of Season 4 without closing the door on the character. Either way, the Walter house could feel a little less crowded when Season 4 begins. With Will leaving and Nathan potentially gone for part of the season, there should also be more room for Parker, Isaac, and Lee.
