Netflix has unveiled brand-new first-look images for its upcoming 6-part adaptation of Jane Austen’s beloved novel, Pride & Prejudice, and confirmed a December 3, 2026, release date.
Pride & Prejudice is one of the most beloved British stories ever written, and Jane Austen’s Regency-period drama has been adapted in various forms, including the 1995 BBC adaptation starring Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth and the Universal Pictures film adaptation starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen.
The series has long been in development, but subscribers won’t have to wait much longer, with Netflix confirming that Pride & Prejudice will be released on Netflix on December 3, 2026.
Directing the series is Euros Lynn, who previously directed Netflix’s Heartstopper and episodes of Doctor Who. Emma Corrin marks her debut as an executive producer on the series, joining Euros Lyn and others, including Laura Lankester, Will Johnston, Louise Mutter, and Dolly Alderton, for Lookout Point (Gentlemen Jack, Happy Valley).
Netflix’s official logline for the series reads:
When wealthy bachelors arrive in their neighbourhood, the five Bennet sisters must navigate love, family, and society’s expectations to secure their futures. Jane falls for the charming Mr Bingley, while Elizabeth clashes with his proud friend Mr Darcy – but unexpected encounters and family scandals force Elizabeth to reconsider her feelings and discover the true nature of love.
