Welcome back to the Taisho era! Anime fans have a lot to look forward to this fall, as it has been officially announced that the highly anticipated special episodes of the hit historical romance My Happy Marriage (Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon) will premiere worldwide exclusively on Netflix this October.
Since the anime adaptation first debuted on Netflix in July 2023, My Happy Marriage has been a standout addition to the streamer’s expanding anime slate. Following the massively successful launch of Season 2 in January 2025—which managed to keep fans hooked despite some minor production delays leading up to Episode 12—the franchise is officially back on track to deliver even more romance.

When are the My Happy Marriage Special Episodes coming to Netflix?
The My Happy Marriage special episodes are officially set to premiere worldwide on Sunday, October 25, 2026 (Japan Time).
What to expect and is there a trailer?
Based on the beloved Japanese light novel series written by Akumi Agitogi and illustrated by Tsukiho Tsukioka, My Happy Marriage follows Miyo Saimori, a young woman mistreated by her abusive family for being born without supernatural abilities. Her life changes forever when she is arranged to marry the rumored-to-be-cruel military commander Kiyoka Kudo, only to discover he is incredibly kind.
To celebrate the release date announcement, the official KADOKAWA YouTube channel dropped a brand-new teaser trailer featuring fresh animated footage of the couple navigating their newlywed bliss.
The teaser also gives fans an early listen to the brand-new ending theme song, “Just before the Prelude 〜for me&you〜.” Performed by returning singer-songwriter Kashitaro Ito, the track intentionally pivots from the musical styling of Seasons 1 and 2, offering a warmer, up-tempo sound perfectly suited for Miyo and Kiyoka’s blooming relationship.
Who is returning for the Special Episodes?
The powerhouse staff at animation studio Kinema Citrus is returning as the principal studio behind the series. Takehiro Kubota returns to direct and handle series composition, while Reina Ueda and Kaito Ishikawa reprise their beloved voice roles as Miyo Saimori and Kiyoka Kudo, respectively.
Also returning is acclaimed composer Evan Call (Violet Evergarden, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End), whose sweeping historical drama score has become a staple of the series. Speaking of the music, die-hard fans looking to bring a piece of the anime home can currently purchase the My Happy Marriage Season 1 Original Soundtrack on vinyl. The 3×12″ black vinyl LP set is housed in a stunning gatefold package and is available for purchase in the US, Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
