A beautiful vacation in Sicily takes a dark turn for Frida Gustavsson and Fares Fares in Netflix’s new 4-part psychological thriller, A Couple of Lies. Coming to Netflix on October 30, 2026, here’s everything you need to know about A Couple of Lies.

A Couple of Lies is an upcoming Swedish psychological thriller on Netflix. Directed by Kasper Barfoed and written by Amanda Högberg and Axel Stjärne, the series is an adaptation of Stefan Ahnhem’s novel of the same name. Asp Varhos is the production studio behind the exciting new series, with Frida Asp and Fatima Varhos as the executive producers.


When is A Couple of Lies coming to Netflix?

Netflix has confirmed that A Couple of Lies will be released on October 30, 2026.

What is the plot of A Couple of Lies?

Netflix’s synopsis for the series is as follows:

“Helene (Frida Gustavsson) and Carl (Fares Fares) trade their home in Stockholm’s archipelago for a sun-drenched villa in Sicily, swapping lives for some weeks with Scarlett (Emma Appleton) and Adam (Jakob Oftebro); a couple they’ve never met. But as they settle into each other’s houses, unsettling details begin to surface. As secrets emerge and hidden betrayals come to light, what started as a picture‑perfect escape slowly warps into a twisted game of surveillance, manipulation and mistrust.”

Who are the cast members of A Couple of Lies?

The lead cast members for the series are Frida Gustavsson, Fares Fares, Emma Appleton, and Jakob Oftebro.

Frida Gustavsson plays Helene. The actress will be most well known to subscribers for her role as Freydis Eriksdotter in Vikings: Valhalla. She has starred in the film Dampyr and in the miniseries Faithless.

Fares Fares plays Carl. The actor previously starred in Netflix’s The Decameron and A Day and a Half. Outside of Netflix he has starred in The Wheel of Time, Chernobyl, Westworld and played the role of Assad in the original adaptation of Department Q.

Emma Appleton plays Scarlett. Appleton previously starred in Netflix titles such as The Witcher, the limited series Traitors and the film The Last Letter from Your Lover. She has also starred in series such as Gone, The Road Trip and The Killing Kind.

Jakob Oftebro plays Adam. The actor recently starred in Netflix’s crime thriller Blood Sacrifice. He also starred in Netflix’s military drama Black Crab.
