Lifehack Movie Sets Netflix Streaming Debut

If you missed the tense, screenlife thriller LifeHack when it hit theaters earlier this year, you’re in luck. The highly acclaimed British cyber-heist movie is officially setting its SVOD debut on Netflix in the United States on September 23rd, 2026.

Following its world premiere at the 2025 SXSW Festival, the indie thriller launched in US theaters this past May via distributors The Avenue and Paramount Pictures. It most recently made its digital VOD debut on August 4th, but September 23rd will mark the very first time the film will be available on a streaming subscription platform.

The movie joins a jam-packed September 2026 lineup on Netflix US, which includes major licensed movie additions like Smile 2Straight Outta Compton, and the Bleecker Street camp disaster spoof Stop! That! Train! (which arrives just a few days earlier on September 20th and is another SVOD debut).

Who is Netflix getting the first window rights from? That answer is a bit complicated. Distribution for LifeHack was handled a bit differently depending on where you watched it. In the United States, the film utilized a split distribution model: Iconic Events Releasing handled its limited theatrical rollout, while The Avenue stepped in to manage its subsequent digital and VOD release. Meanwhile, in the United Kingdom, the movie bypassed traditional distribution channels altogether, releasing theatrically directly through Vue cinemas in partnership with the production company, Screenlife Liverpool.

Here is everything you need to know about LifeHack before it hits Netflix next month.

What is LifeHack about?

Directed and co-written by Irish filmmaker Ronan Corrigan (alongside writer Hope Elliott Kemp), the 2025 thriller acts as a Gen-Z answer to the classic heist movie.

Inspired by true events, the film is shot largely using the “screenlife” format—meaning the story unfolds authentically across laptops, webcams, and Discord servers. It follows four chronically online slackers who are chasing a digital shortcut to a better life and accidentally turn themselves into a hacking crew.

When they target the crypto empire of Don Heard, an erratic tech billionaire, the crew’s pursuit of a multi-million-dollar jackpot implodes. They are cornered by Don’s equally ruthless daughter, who presents them with a lethal real-world ultimatum and forces them into an impossible physical heist. As the pressure mounts and their trust begins to fracture, a virtual thrill ride transforms into a deadly, high-stakes game of paranoia and real-world consequences.

The movie picked up incredibly strong reviews upon its release, with a 95% and Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of publishing.

Who stars in LifeHack?

The cyber-thriller features a talented young cast of familiar streaming faces and rising stars, squaring off against veteran character actors. The main cast includes:

  • Georgie Farmer (WednesdayReady Player One)
  • Yasmin Finney (HeartstopperDoctor Who)
  • Roman Hayeck-Green (Sex Education)
  • James Scholz
  • Jessica Reynolds (KneecapOutlander)
  • Charlie Creed-Miles (The Fifth ElementPeaky Blinders)

As with most third-party licensing pickups, it’s worth noting that this September 23rd release date currently only applies to Netflix in the United States.
