Netflix just revealed its lineup for April 2024, and we’ve sifted through all the scheduled arrivals to pick out our favorite or most anticipated movies.

As always, we will split this article up into two halves. Firstly, we’ll cover new Netflix Originals coming to the service globally (unless stated otherwise) before diving into some of the licensed titles specifically coming to Netflix in the United States.

If you want to see the full list of arrivals for Netflix in the United States – you can find the most comprehensive list of what’s on the way in April 2024 here.

Now, you’ll notice one notable omission in the Netflix Original section that may cause some controversy. I’m notably leaving out the second part of Rebel Moon because the extended R-rated editions are reportedly not too far down the line. I’m personally not going to bother with the next movie, so I will wait instead and recommend that you probably do the same.

Most Anticipated Netflix Original Movies Coming to Netflix in April 2024

SCOOP (2024)

Coming to Netflix: April 5th

Can you remember *that* interview with the now disgraced Prince Andrew? Yes, that BBC Newsnight one. You’ll get to see how that interview came together in this new biopic released early in April 2024 with Philip Martin directing.

The plot involves looking into how the BBC managed to secure that astonishing interview and

It’s unclear whether there’s enough material to sustain the movie through its runtime, but what is clear is that Gillian Anderson and Rufus Sewell going toe-to-toe is going to be worthy of a watch.

City Hunter (2024)

Coming to Netflix: April 25th

Serving as Netflix’s second major Japanese movie release of 2024 (the first was The Parades in February) is City Hunter, a comedy-action movie with a runtime of just over an hour and a half.

Ryohei Suzuki headlines the film about a private eye with exceptional marksman skills who also parades around as a playboy. The plot picks up on him forming a new alliance when investigating his former partner’s death.

Netflix labels the movie as a raunchy and exciting late-night comedy film, so seeing how this plays worldwide will be interesting.

What Jennifer Did

Coming to Netflix: April 10th

Given April is going to be dry beyond those two movies, we’re going to add in a documentary pick for the Netflix Originals. What Jennifer Did comes from the same team behind a myriad of Netflix Original docs and docuseries, including Fear City: New York vs. The Mafia, the recent record-breaker American Nightmare and Get Gotti.

In this new entry, directed by Jenny Popplewell, we’re given the inside account of what happened following Jennifer Pan’s call to 911 to report that her parents had been shot.

Best New Licensed Movies Coming to Netflix in April 2024

The Little Things (2021)

Coming to Netflix: April 1st

Denzel Washington has proved himself to be a reliable hitmaker throughout his years on the big screen but his popularity on Netflix continues to amaze. The Equalizer 3 performed great following its addition to Netflix in the US earlier this year, and Netflix is teaming up with the actor on at least two projects, including a Hannibal movie.

In the meantime, Netflix is getting the 2021 psychological crime thriller from director John Lee Hancock and sees Washington star alongside Rami Malek and Jared Leto.

The plot is about a local cop sent on assignment to Los Angeles and soon becomes embroiled in a serial killer case that is throwing up lots of dead ends. It’s a

Night Raiders (2021)

Coming to Netflix: April 1st

Unlisted by most outlets in their April 2024 previews is the XYZ Film Night Raiders, which was released three years ago but has skipped many people’s radars. If you’re a fan of your sci-fi and looking for something to watch following Netflix’s recent track run in the space, including 3 Body Problem, Code 8: Part II, or Spaceman, this could be for you.

The dystopian thriller from executive producer Taika Waititi is set two decades from now in an America that’s been ravaged by war with the plot revolving around a woman joining a group of vigilantes in the hope of rescuing her captured daughter.

It’s a tense affair and the movie even netted itself a Certified Fresh rating on RottenTomatoes.

Megan Leavey (2017)

Coming to Netflix: April 8th

We first announced that the Bleecker Street movie, “Megan Leavey,” would debut on Netflix for the first time in the second week of April, and we believe it will be a sleeper hit on the service. Starring Kate Mara (featured in House of Cards) alongside Ramón Rodríguez, Tom Felton, and Bradley Whitford, the movie retells the true story of a Marine Corporal who bonded with an aggressive combat dog.

Certified Fresh on RottenTomatoes, Danielle Solzman posted back in 2017, “If your eyes aren’t watering by the final frame, you’re watching the wrong film, or you simply don’t have a heart.”

Anyone But You (2023)

Coming to Netflix: April 23rd

Making its SVOD debut this month following its very and unexpectedly successful box office run is Anyone But You, a romantic comedy that stars Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell.

Per Sony Pictures, here’s what you can expect from the film if you’ve yet to watch it:

“Bea and Ben look like the perfect couple, but after an amazing first date something happens that turns their fiery hot attraction ice cold – until they find themselves unexpectedly thrust together at a destination wedding in Australia. So they do what any two mature adults would do: pretend to be a couple.”

Although the movie wasn’t loved by critics, given its blockbuster box office performance and its audience scores, we suspect this will do superb numbers once it drops on Netflix.

Please note that Netflix didn’t include this movie in its April preview and deleted a Tweet that promoted the arrival, so this could be subject to change. We should also note that you’ll need a premium Netflix membership to watch this film as all Sony movies are cut off from the advertising tier.

Baby Driver (2017)

Coming to Netflix: April 1set

Everyone has their annual rewatches, and for me, “Baby Driver” is on that list. With its fast-paced action, excellent villains, and a soundtrack to die for, Baby Driver may have a bit of a tarnished reputation given its star, but you still can’t deny it’s one of Edgar Wright’s best movies to date.

Released in theaters seven years ago, the movie is headlined by Ansel Elgort, who plays Baby, a getaway driver hoping to pay off his debts and escape the criminal lifestyle. That doesn’t prove very easy, however.
