The Bachelor host Jesse Palmer unveiled Zach, a 26-year-old tech executive from Anaheim Hills, CA, as the new Bachelor for 2023 towards the end of The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose broadcast that aired last week on ABC.

Zach was introduced to five bachelorettes on After the Final Rose, one of whom — Brianna, a 24-year-old entrepreneur from Jersey City, NJ — received a special First Impression Rose from America, who had voted for her as their favorite entrance among the five women.

Zach then had a few days to do press and relax, and according to Reality Steve spoiler blogger Steve Carbone, The Bachelor began filming its new season on Monday, September 26.

Carbone wrote in a September 29 blog posting that The Bachelor began taping at the famed mansion in Los Angeles, CA.

Zach embarked on his first date of the season, a group date, on Wednesday, September 28.

While Carbone hasn’t heard what the date entailed or which bachelorettes were on it with Zach, he reported that the night portion took place at Big Daddy’s Antiques on La Cienaga in L.A.

Zach and a group of women will return to that location on Friday night for a group date afterparty.

On Thursday, September 29, Zach also reportedly enjoyed his first one-on-one date of the season.

Zach and the lucky bachelorette were set to go to Anaheim Hills golf course, and then move on to the restaurant Orange County Mining Company for the night portion of the date.

Carbone reported that he’d probably find out shortly who accompanied Zach on the one-on-one date.

The spoiler blogger also informed The Bachelor fans that the social-media activity of the season’s bachelorettes is not a good indicator of who’s been eliminated as filming proceeds.

Zach fell hard and fast for Rachel Recchia on The Bachelorette’s nin2eteenth season. He said he had pictured the flight instructor as “the future Mrs. Shallcross” and gushed to the cameras about how he was madly in love with her.

But Zach was thrown for a loop in his Fantasy Suite with Rachel, who allegedly became guarded and skeptical of whether Zach was ready to get engaged given his age. (He was 25 at the time he taped The Bachelorette, but Rachel is only four months older).

Zach said Rachel’s concern “came out of nowhere” and “was bullsh-t.”

Feeling shocked and brokenhearted, Zach said his relationship with Rachel had done “a 180” and she was “inauthentic” and totally unlike herself in the Fantasy Suite.

Once Zach confronted Rachel about their awkward date and how it was clear he wasn’t going to be her person, he self-eliminated at the Final 3 Rose Ceremony. He essentially beat Rachel to the punch before she could deny him a rose.

“One of the things I fell in love with was she made me feel, like, special. And I cared for her and I question if any of that was real or if that was just an act,” Zach lamented in a confessional.

Zach apologized to Rachel on Part 1 of The Bachelorette finale earlier this month for letting her feel like he had questioned her character. Zach said that was never his intent, and Rachel also apologized for dragging Zach through an overnight date when she got the clarity she needed that night.

On The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose, Zach said he’s “absolutely” prepared to give love another shot after Rachel crushed his heart. Zach told Jesse that he spent time with his family after The Bachelorette, regrouped and centered himself.

“I really needed to take some time away and reflect and heal that broken heart, but really, what I learned from that experience was that I didn’t change how ready I was,” Zach shared.

“I am now more ready. That was almost fuel to the fire. I am ready to find my person and my best friend, and that breakup didn’t deter it… I really want to walk away from this with someone for the rest of my life.”

ABC announced 32 women who would potentially be competing for Zach last week. Zach’s final and official cast of bachelorettes will be revealed at a later date.

In a departure from the show’s traditional early January debut date, Season 27 of The Bachelor will not premiere on ABC until Monday, January 23, 2023 — about three weeks later than The Bachelor has historically begun airing on the network.
