‘The Bachelor’ star Joey Graziadei speaks out on social media hate

The Bachelor star Joey Graziadei has reacted to the hate several of his Season 28 bachelorettes have been receiving on social media.

Both Sydney Gordon and Daisy Kent recently expressed on social media how they’ve been criticized by trolls online, and Sydney’s backlash went as far as receiving death threats.

Joey addressed the negativity and nasty messages directed at the women on his season during a recent interview with E! News.

When asked if he’s reached out to any of the women who have been bullied by haters online, Joey responded, “I’ll keep that personal, if I did reach out to anyone.”

“I will say this though,” he continued, “anyone who has been through a reality TV experience — anyone that’s been on this show — can understand how difficult it is sometimes to go through this and how much you do things that you wish you could take back, or you see yourself in a light that you didn’t expect.”

Joey insisted that “no one should be treated with any type of… cruelness that Sydney has been getting.”

Earlier this month, Sydney — who got eliminated during a two-on-one date against her rival in the mansion, Maria Georgas — took to Instagram to share how she had received “thousands” of hurtful messages.

“You are a f-cking b-tch. You are a skank,” one person told her.

“You are as low and gross and scumby as they come,” another troll told Sydney.

Sydney appeared upset and distraught in the video, and she admitted, “I didn’t know I could feel this low in my entire life… I was told that I’d be better off dead. People struggle with suicide ideation… That is not something that we should be joking about.”

Joey clearly agrees with Sydney when she had told her followers that people need to “do better” and “be better.”

Joey explained of Sydney, “I did get to know her in other ways that obviously you didn’t get to see on the show. I think she’s a very sweet person.”

“I obviously know that she shared that she got lost in the drama that was going on, but no one deserves to be treated that way, regardless of what people’s opinions are,” he added.

Trolls targeted Sydney on social media after she was shown throwing Maria under the bus on The Bachelor by informing Joey that she thought Maria was a catty “bully” and a manipulative “mean girl.”

Sydney claimed that Maria had “attacked” her and created a “hostile” environment, and once she was booted from the show, Sydney aimed a gaslighting rant at Maria on Instagram.

Maria denied the allegations against her on the show, and Joey also said Maria was misunderstood during filming. But Maria recently admitted on social media that she was “not innocent” in the drama either.

Joey wrapped up his thoughts by sharing, “And so that’s what I’ll speak on that subject. I think, as always, people should move forward with kindness and not with hate.”

Daisy has also been facing negativity as The Bachelor airs its 28th season on ABC.

On February 20, Daisy fired back at haters claiming she has “vocal fry” that’s hard to listen to when she talks to Joey on the show.

“How can yall listen to that vocal fry,” a person wrote along with three crying-laughing emojis.

Daisy, who experienced hearing loss as a teenager due to the progression of Lyme disease and therefore received a cochlear implant in 2023, posted a video explaining, “Going on #thebachelor was hard for me bc I knew not everyone would react to me with kindness & understanding.”

Daisy explained how she can’t always hear herself speak, nor can she tell how loud or soft she’s talking.

Daisy went on to say, “My voice is not something I can always tell & these comments do hurt because I am human. Overall, they remind me how proud I should be for doing something & sharing a vulnerable part of me.”

Daisy asked people to be kind and quipped, “It’s interesting because most of the people who post them are people who have fake user names and fake pictures as their profile pictures.”

On The Bachelor’s latest episode, Joey narrowed down his pool of bachelorettes to only four women: Daisy, Maria, Kelsey Anderson and Rachel Nance. He had eliminated Jenn Tran and Kelsey Toussant in Jasper, Canada.
