Best Medicine Season2 Episode 2 Review: Martin, Mark & Louisa Channel Sherlock Holmes to Solve a Bizarre Case

Best Medicine excels when Martin lets others into his circle, and combining a crime with a medical mystery was the perfect way to do so.

It felt like the opening scene of a procedural: it looked like a robbery in progress, but there were no other clues.

Best Medicine Season 2 Episode 2 amped up the stakes because what seemed like a simple robbery soon became more serious when Martin suspected the thief was helping an injured person.

It’s always entertaining to watch Martin, Mark, and Louisa work together because they think and react differently, but they’re friends, despite the awkwardness of their romantic past.

“Breaking In Is Hard To Do” Featured several other funny moments, including the prank the town played on Martin and the war Greg and George hatched with the pizza food truck in their parking lot. They used them more this season.

The Clues Didn’t Add Up in the Robbery

You would have thought if someone robbed the pharmacy, they would have stolen lots of drugs, but the only marketable thing they took was five vials of morphine.

The suture kit, bandages, and rubbing alcohol made no sense, and the adult diapers stood out like a sore thumb. It should have been a clue that someone left money for those.

But Mark and Martin were too frazzled comforting Sally, and then things worsened when Sally realized Louisa’s fertility medication had gone missing, too.

Louisa seemed so stressed by the fact that it was her one shot to take this injection and prepare her eggs, so Mark’s humor that they had 36 hours to find a thief who poops and wanted a baby lightened the mood.

Martin still thought someone was injured, but the diapers were the best clue, so Martin, Mark, and Louisa assumed Old Man Collins was their thief.

I almost felt sorry for him as the trio harassed him. Louisa was the best, saying she wouldn’t be angry as long as he returned her meds.

He was amused and offended since older people never want to struggle with incontinence. I’m just relieved he didn’t just show them his perfectly dry shorts away, after Mark insisted he’s had issues too.

They were hilarious, but wrong.

Greg and George’s War with Gina Made Things Worse

Apparently, Gina never watched The Great Food Truck Race. I’ve grown so accustomed to food truck owners asking restaurants and cafes if they can park near them that she came across as rude.

I didn’t think that Greg and George needed to retaliate, because almost anyone would want to try Brooklyn-style pizza.

Threatening to ban their friends from The Salty Breeze for trying something new, while funny, was beneath them.

They were so biased against Gina that they thought she stole everything from their alcohol and Benadryl cream to their mosquito cream.

Martin remained the practical one, though. She couldn’t have stolen anything if she had a long line.

Plus, he was even more convinced the robberies were connected, and the thief needed the alcohol to treat a wound and the cream for an allergic reaction.

Finding them was the challenging part, and most of his friends were no help.

I Loved How Martin, Mark, and Louisa Worked This Case Together

Martin probably felt like a teacher with Mark and Louisa as the unruly students. Their reactions to Martin’s drawings were hilarious.

It felt like a group of friends playing charades as Martin laid out the clues.

He thought someone robbed his office for the forceps and inhaler to dig out a bullet, but the thief likely punctured a lung.

I love Mark. He always provides the comic relief, and Mark and Martin are entertaining together. Adding in Louisa was the best idea.

I hope the three of them stay friends because they share a heartwarming, humorous connection.

When Greg burst in and announced that Gina kept repeating that she shot a guy, Martin had a theory.

They weren’t prepared for the war between Gina and George to have worsened. Let’s face it, both pizza and hot dogs rule!

But Martin saw that Gina was off. She had a tic, which made her repeat everything. That meant that she didn’t shoot anyone, but she overheard a shooting.

This time, Louisa recognized the poison ivy on Gina and knew exactly which trail it was from. Teamwork rules.

I appreciated that Mark went off on his own, giving Louisa and Martin a few minutes to talk. She needed to reassure him that they needed him here.

Martin handled his fear like a champ, and then he faced it again by giving Louisa her injection.

She almost changed her mind about becoming a mom, and I loved how Martin and Mark supported her, knowing what motherhood meant to her.

That was so meaningful that Martin administered that dose.

Eden Wasn’t as Annoying on Best Medicine Season 2 Episode 2, But She Seemed Possessive

I definitely prefer Martin with Louisa, but I didn’t find Eden as annoying. She cares about Martin. She likely cares about him more than he does about her.

I’m still unsure if they’re in love or if it’s based on mutual respect, admiration, and care. They have their medical careers in common, and she admires how dedicated he is, even when they were in bed.

She told off his friends for pranking him about his phobia and tried to build up his confidence.

She knew most people in Port Wenn didn’t like her, but she tried to get along with them. She even agreed to have lunch with Sarah, which was so awkward.

Who brings their own silverware and needs two bottles of wine to get through a ladies’ lunch?

Eden wanted Sarah to like her since they were both fiercely independent, worked hard, and loved Martin.

But Sarah hated that Eden wanted to take him away from her when she’d only recently reunited with him, and that Eden was yet another person who knew about the blood phobia before her.

That wasn’t Eden’s fault, though. Sarah made Eden think Louisa was her competition, which made her act weirdly possessive when Martin and Louisa were solving a crime.

I think Eden wanted to help Martin solve the case, and she no longer felt special when both she and Louisa were worried about his blood phobia.

There’s no denying that Martin and Louisa still share a connection, but they’d never act on it. They aren’t the type to cheat, but their emotional chemistry shines through.

This will be a fun, different love triangle.

It’s Anyone’s Guess- Will Martin and Elaine Both Stay in Port Wenn?

Ironically, Martin and Elaine have both contemplated leaving Port Wenn, mainly because of pressure from their partner.

I doubt Martin will, because we couldn’t have Best Medicine without him. However, he felt like his friends ganged up on him by ridiculing his blood phobia.

That was childish, pretending Al was injured and dumping ketchup on him instead. If he gave them the benefit of the doubt, they were surprised by his confession and wanted to laugh about it with him.

Martin was so used to other people ridiculing him that he assumed they were making fun of him, and he jumped at the chance to leave town.

Eden used that to her advantage, making the residents sound inferior and saying that he was better than them.

I disliked how Al behaved almost the same way.

He pressured Elaine to leave town with him, and he pressured her to do that collab with Gina so she’d have money for the move, even though she didn’t want to betray Greg and George.

It made me uncomfortable since Elaine used to have more of a backbone. I also hated that she thought Martin didn’t fit in anymore, even though she used to be his biggest supporter.

What have they done to Elaine?
