Fightland usually has a lot going on, but Fightland Season 1 Episode 7 takes the drama to a new level.
Duke came back to London for one reason: revenge on Kingsley Marshall. Somewhere along the way, he got pulled into one side quest after another and lost some of that focus.
This week, he finally gets back to it. And while he does, Fightland keeps dropping one surprise after another, including a few things I definitely did not see coming.
Some of the biggest moments have been building for weeks.
We finally learn more about the tension between Duke and Gazzer, Kingsley’s kids are getting tired of living by his rules, and Joy suddenly has a whole lot more power.
Joy Takes Control
Mrs. Marshall signing the paperwork to become a majority shareholder in her husband’s company changes everything.
Her first flex is dropping that bomb on Cebella. Seeing the look on her stepdaughter’s face was almost as satisfying as watching her get slapped on Fightland Season 1 Episode 5. Almost.
Cebella has been unnecessarily nasty to Joy, so this was long overdue.
Joy is doing what she has to do to secure a future for herself and Aiden. Unfortunately, Duke gets caught in the fallout when she tells him Aiden is not his.
Duke thinks she is lying, and I am not buying it either.
I’m standing ten toes down that Aiden is his child. I think Joy is protecting Duke because she knows how dangerous Kingsley is when it comes to his alleged youngest son.
Joy’s new position also puts her right in the middle of a family already dealing with plenty of resentment.
Kingsley’s Kids Have Had Enough
Kingsley keeps preaching about family, but Cebella and Zeke are getting tired of what being a Marshall actually costs them.
Cebella is still grieving Nikolai and clearly fed up with sacrificing what she wants for the family.
When Kingsley tells her that she, Zeke, and Aiden have been tied to what he built since birth, the episode title suddenly makes perfect sense: Without Me, There Is No You.

That is exactly how Kingsley sees his children. Their lives should revolve around him and his empire.
He drives the point home by publicly embarrassing Zeke at the Marshall Promotions announcement.
Zeke expects to join Kingsley and Joy onstage, only to be told to sit in the audience with everyone else. He ends up beside Duke, and both are seething.
Kingsley keeps treating his own children like crap while demanding their loyalty.
With Zeke already admitting he has dreamed about killing his father, Kingsley’s downfall may be closer to home than he realizes.
The Weight of the Past
For seven episodes, I have been waiting to find out what caused the deep hurt between Duke and Gazzer. We finally get that answer here, and it explains a lot.
“You raised me from the bottom of a bottle” says almost everything. Duke was only 12, trying to keep his father sober while raising his younger brother Calvin. That is a lot of weight to put on a child.
Gazzer sees boxing as what he gave his sons and why he pushed Duke so hard. Duke remembers those years very differently. That contrast is what makes the scene work.
I had been rooting for Duke and his dad, hoping they could repair their relationship. Instead, the conversation pushes them even further apart.
Duke has already lost his mother, Calvin, his career, Joy, and possibly the son he thought was his. Now it looks like he has lost his father too. At some point, can something please go right for him?
Duke Finally Gets His Shot
After seven episodes of plotting, detours, and setbacks, Duke finally gets Kingsley alone with a gun pointed at him. This is the confrontation I have been waiting for.
And even with his life on the line, Kingsley is still Kingsley. He bargains, manipulates, and reminds Duke of everything he supposedly did for him, even claiming Duke means more to him than anything. I laughed out loud at that reach.
Duke is not buying any of it, and neither am I.
Throughout, Kingsley has made it clear that he expects to control everyone around him. Even staring down the barrel of a gun, he still believes he can control the situation.
Before Duke can pull the trigger, the police burst in. Kingsley walks away, of course, while Duke is taken into custody by an officer who, big surprise, is on Kingsley’s payroll.
Once again, Duke gets close to finishing what he came back to London to do, only for everything to go sideways.
This episode was a wild ride right up to the end.
Duke’s former ally Lazaro is dead, Jay is catching strays again for absolutely no reason, and Kingsley’s enemies are still dropping like flies. A lot is hanging in the balance with only one episode left.
The finale could go in any direction.
There are plenty of people with reasons to want Kingsley gone, and Duke is far from the only one.
After everything that happened this week, I honestly have no idea who will make the biggest move when all of this finally comes to a head.
