I’ve Longed for Will and Angie to Raise a Family on Will Trent, but Not Like This

Will Trent and Angie Polaski have held my heart since Will Trent began in 2023.

I’ve always been a sucker for trauma-bonded couples, and I dreamed of them having their own happy family.

I was heartbroken when their happy ending consisted of a dream flash-forward in the Will Trent Season 2 finale, only to be ripped away.

I never thought I’d say this, but Will and Angie connect better as best friends and family than they did as a couple.

I’ve longed for them to raise a family together, and they’ll be loving parents to Edie because they know what not to be like.

But I never wanted them to kill Seth for this family to happen.

Seth should not have died. Angie was finally happy, and she has evolved so much over the last few years.

While it was annoying that Seth didn’t understand Angie’s need to rescue her loved ones, his reluctance came because he’d already lost his wife.

Seth adored Angie and loved her completely, even with her recklessness.

It was cute that he tried to become friends with Will, and they geeked out about similar things. 

While I adored Will and Angie, I’ll always be Team Angie’s happiness first. She was happy.

She was having a little girl and had gotten over the awkwardness with Will, so they could talk about it, and she could have him in her life.

I still hope Will Trent killed off Seth because Scott Foley was occupied with It’s Not Like That, but I suspect it went further than that, and the writers wanted Angie in Will’s orbit more.

And now there are so many mixed emotions.

Will longed for a family. It was bittersweet when he went with Angie to her ultrasound because that was supposed to be their baby.

Some fans thought the baby would end up as Will’s. I never thought that, because Will and Angie haven’t slept together in two years, and Will Trent isn’t the type of series that does immaculate conceptions.

The twist allowed Will to act like a father to Edie rather than an occasional uncle. 

The series’s choice to make Will’s decision to pay it forward, partly about Amanda being there for him, is admirable and worth appreciating.

Will has always been comforting around children, but he’s never been around babies, and I loved that he learned how to care for Edie.

Will did that for Angie so she could heal on her terms, without feeling overwhelmed by a newborn, and because he fell for Edie the second she gripped his finger.

The Will Trent Season 4 finale felt like a parallel to the Season 2 finale, only this time the flash-forward actually happened as we watched Will, Angie, and Nico become a family with Edie.

It’s not what I had on my bingo card, but families have changed. Best friends can co-parent together.

I’m unsure whether Will and Angie would ever reunite, or if I’d even want them to. Part of me does, since they have such a hold on me.

But they work better as a family, and I’d hate for Edie to lose Will if they experienced another bitter, dysfunctional break-up.

Also, Angie’s not anywhere near ready to date again after losing Seth. She needs time to grieve and focus on Edie.

Will Trent should focus on all the people who love this special little girl, as we watch Will, Angie, and Nico raise her together.
