Lifetime is at it again with its ripped-from-the-headlines stories, and this one already has us on the edge of our seats.

We scored the full trailer of Resued By Faith: The Connie and Larry Van Oosten Story, and it already has us on the edge of our seats.

It’s time to brace ourselves for another powerful story of survival.

The network has also been doing a solid job of telling stories about faith every bit as much as about survival.

There have been more than a few faith-based films that have been inspirational, powerful depictions of real people overcoming difficult situations by leaning into their faith during times of hardship.

We covered Faith in the Flames, led by Chrissy Metz, and it was such a powerful tale about survival amid one of the nation’s worst fires. And it remains a film that touches many.

And Before Your Father Finds Us, Finding Faith, and If I Run were also strong films that resonated with viewers.

Now, we’ll dive into another movie inspired by a true story that also falls into Lifetime’s True Crime genre as well.

Set in 2017, we’ll find Connie (Nancy Travis) and her husband Larry Van Oosten (Mike Pniewski) in a harrowing ordeal when a masked gunman breaks into their home while they’re asleep.

In the trailer, we see the exact moment they wake up to one’s worst nightmare, a strange man standing at the foot of their bed and eventually holding them at gunpoint.

But the story doesn’t stop there. This man doesn’t just terrorize this couple in their home, but he actually abducts them from it.

He locks the couple away in a hidden bunker, and the Van Oostens spend days enduring all kinds of torture, torment, and terrible treatment as they cling to their faith, pray, and hope that God will make a way for them and the police will save them.

Within that time frame, their kidnapper is hell-bent on stealing all of their life savings and is willing to do whatever it takes to access their funds.

It’s where the couple gets a break while the authorities desperately try to find them.

When their captor takes Connie to the bank, in an adrenaline-fueled and terrifying moment, we’ll learn that she’s able to alert the authorities in secret.

And that’s what will set off a frantic, relentless search for this couple before it’s too late.

But that’s not the only thing that’s disturbing about this case, as we’ll discover that the person who has taken them has a connection to their past, and worse yet, the man grows increasingly more unstable as time goes on.

There’s even an eerie moment when their captor says, “The devil made him do it.”

But as the lead investigator says while looking at a convoluted board in an effort to solve the case: “There’s a lot more than the devil at work here.”

Connie and Larry cling to each other and hold on to their faith as they try to navigate a severely unethical man who is holding them hostage and demanding money.

Meanwhile, their children and the authorities work to find the best recourse to delay the worst from happening if the captor doesn’t get his money.
