Rose Hill Found Its Leads – And We Have High Hopes for This Cozy, Cowboy Romance

- Advertisment -

Cowboys and pop stars and romance, oh my!

Romance author and BookTok sensation Elsie Silver is having quite the year, with two of her bestselling romance series heading to the small-screen — and one of them has officially found its leading cast.

Silver’s latest series, Rose Hill, marks yet another installment in Prime Video’s robust slate of romance-driven shows.

But as one of Prime Video’s first series to center small-town, cowboy-inspired drama, Rose Hill is set to bring a hefty dose of rugged mountain charm that viewers can’t seem to get enough of these days.

Jake Weary, Sean O’Pry, Hannah Galway and Sadie Dickerson will star and it’s exciting to see that fresh faces will bring this story to life.

Prime seems to realize that its viewers aren’t just hungry for romance, they’re also hungry to discover new talent.

There’s also something intoxicating about the vicarious pleasure that comes from seeing someone new excelling in a role and surging into a blossoming career.

Falling in love with new faces isn’t just exciting for the viewers — think of how fun it was to fall for Heated Rivalry’s Hudson Williams or Off Campus’s Belmont Cameli for the first time — the buzz it can generate is wonderful for the show and network too.

Rose Hill follows the story of best friends and neighbors in a small Canadian mountain town, West Belmont (Jake Weary) and Ford Grant (O’Pry).

West is a rancher with commitment issues, while Ford is a brooding record label owner who has been dubbed the “World’s Hottest Billionaire.”

Ford has always nursed a secret interest in West’s sister, Rosie (Galway). And when country singer Skylar Stone (Dickerson) comes to their mountain town, sparks fly and plenty of drama ensues.

The Rose Hill book series includes four titles: Wild Love, Wild Eyes, Wild Side, and Wild Card.

The show will follow the events of the first novel, which focuses on the love story between Ford and Rosie, and potentially some events from the second, which centers West and Skylar.

I love this new interconnected, serialized approach that romantic TV dramas have adopted from their book counterparts.

It’s a wonderful way to keep viewers invested in the entire ensemble, while also sustaining the excitement that comes from watching two characters fall in love throughout every season.

Jake Weary, our new West Belmont, is perhaps the most familiar face in this cast.

He appeared as Deran Cody in all six seasons of TNT’s Animal Kingdom, and most recently starred as Cane Buckley in Netflix’s The Waterfront.

Eagle-eyed Taylor Swift fans may recognize Sean O’Pry as the love interest in the “Blank Space” music video.

O’Pry is known for his career in modeling, and Ford Grant will mark his first major role in a television series.

Hannah Galway will take on the role of Rosie Belmont. Galway served as series regular Emily Walz on MGM+’s Billy the Kid and Wendy Gullickson in The Institute. She has also appeared in Netflix’s Sex/Life.

Sadie Dickerson may be making her TV debut as country star Skylar Stone, but she is no newcomer to professional acting or singing.

Dickerson has made her mark on the Broadway stage, where she recently starred as Sandra Dee in Just in Time.

I’m eager to see a budding star — with vocal chops strong enough to star opposite Jonathan Groff — bring her talents to the screen.

The show also has a stacked list of talent behind the scenes: Heidi Cole McAdams, writer on The 100, will serve as showrunner, writer, and executive producer, and 500 Days of Summer director Marc Webb is set to direct the first two episodes.

As a lover of a rough-and-tumble cowboys, the brothers-little-sister trope, anything set on a lake, and shows that can actually capitalize on the vocal talent of their cast…

I think Rose Hill could deliver everything I look for in a cozy (yet hopefully, a little spicy) binge!
