Stuart Fails to Save the Universe Season 1 Episode 7 Actually Makes Me Feel Bad for Stuart

One of my weirdest fears is that someone will get the power to read my mind, and Stuart Fails to Save the Universe Season 1 Episode 7 delves into why that is.

Nothing is sacred anymore.

All those weird thoughts everyone gets suddenly become audible to the world.

Now, in my fears, it’s just one person, more like a case of What Women Want. In The Big Bang Theory’s spinoff, everyone can hear everything.

And it gets hilariously awkward, especially when it comes to Kripke.

I think we always knew what some of his thoughts could be, but I just love that they were all confirmed in this one installment.

Going Off Course Is So Easily Done

I swear, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe Season 1 Episode 7 brought us one of the most grounded moments in Bert’s thoughts.

He starts to go completely off course, and I related so much that it made me smile.

Each episode so far has reminded me of some other original material, and we all certainly have our own connections.

There were moments I felt like we were in Charmed, but I’m sure other people felt like it was Doctor Who or Logan’s Run.

What we haven’t heard until now is what these different universes remind the core group of friends of!

Bert starts going through the movies that hearing other people’s thoughts reminds him of.

It takes him a minute, but he gets there. And if you’re anything like me, you spend part of each of these episodes trying to figure this out.

I had fun trying to work out the movie Bert was thinking of before he got there, and while I had to rewind to hear what everyone else was saying, it got me thinking even more.

We all go down these types of rabbit holes.

How many times have you had to pause a TV show or movie as something comes up within it? 

I’ve done it when there’s an actor I’ve tried to place or when there’s a plot hole that I’m not sure is meant to be there.

Having Bert go off track, then seeing Stuart and Denise follow suit, brought a grounded reality to such a wild and fun arc.

What I adored even more was that it suited Bert’s character from The Big Bang Theory so well.

We’ve seen how he’s gone off tangent explaining things in this spinoff, but he also did it in the mothership.

While I often hope that characters develop and grow, there are always aspects of a personality I don’t want to see change. This is Bert’s.

As he went through the movies and we heard the others’ thoughts, I also started to wonder how well I would do in such a situation.

Would I be able to hold back the thoughts I have every day?

Probably not, and meditation would definitely take me down the same route as the core four — thinking of some of the wildest facts and questions.

Their creative way of getting past Caltech’s reception was the icing on the cake.

I usually get “Come On, Eileen” stuck in my head thanks to music bingo on Thursday nights, so I could totally buy how it was the best song to use as an excuse.

I Feel a Little Sad for Stuart

Getting into Caltech was always going to be somewhat pointless.

Look, we have three more episodes of this season, so it’s not like they were going to fix the machine.

What I didn’t see them doing was coming across another group of them doing the exact same thing.

Now, I do have a lot of questions, but I will give Stuart Fails to Save the Universe Season 1 time to answer them.

My biggest question is why Stuart wouldn’t bank on himself. 

Or maybe, why he would bank on himself.

If he was sure the apocalypse version of Stuart was going to fail, why would he then send versions from other universes out there with the same device?

I guess it does explain why these four versions of the characters become integrated into the universes that they land in, rather than just spectators.

As the show went on, I started thinking of The Man in the High Castle, where people can only travel to another parallel world if their counterpart there is dead.

Would that be the same here?

Stuart Fails to Save the Universe Season 1 Episode 7 seems to hint that they’re all moving between universes, which is why they’re integrating.

Just look at how the group that we followed didn’t seem to succumb to the worlds they’ve already been in as they followed the other group.

Group 2 got into those worlds first, so they integrated.

And I think this is where I’m going to have to stop thinking about this so hard. 

Time travel gives me a headache, and now it looks like parallel-world jumping is going to give me one too.

I think I’m just going to start enjoying the ride that we’re on.

However, I do feel for Stuart.

His own self didn’t believe in him, and while he likely expected that because they are the same person, it just goes to show that he feels like he has nobody in his corner.

Not even himself.

I’ve already said that I’d like to see Stuart gain some more leadership skills throughout this series, but I’d also like to see him gain some inner confidence.

He’s chosen now to take on this task to save the universe, and it’s time for him to believe that he can.
