Everything has been leading up to this.
We have finally arrived at Crisis Arrowverse Fans, and, oh man, did it live up to the hype.
Supergirl Season 5 Episode 9 was part one out of five and while it had plenty of pure Supergirl moments, it was a true meeting of heroes that threatened to tug at our heartstrings.
As the DEO detected a wave of anti-matter hurdling towards their Earth, they soon realized that Argo would be it’s first victim. And that could only mean that we would witness the first deaths of the mega crossover.
Of course, this was barely ten minutes into the hour.
Clark: How are you so hopeful right now? You’ve lost as much as I have today — Argo, your mom.
Kara: Before our parents sent us to Earth, nobody here knew about Krypton. Now there are stories, celebrations, museum exhibits. Just like you shared our home with your family, we shared our home with this whole world. Krypton’s not just a place — it’s a spirit. It’s hope. It’s sacrifice. It’s what our parents did for us. What you did for Jonathan. We have made our parents proud by fighting for what’s right. So, we have to keep fighting. And as long as that spirit is alive, Krypton will never die.
Thankfully, Superman and Lois Lane were saved by Lyla, who now goes by Harbinger, right before the wave could hit them. Unfortunately, Harbinger decided Alura was not as important to save.
And, by the end of the hour, Kara would see her two home planets destroyed and more death than anyone ever should. It is a miracle that she has so much hope. Well, at least, she had hope. We will see how this affects her on Batwoman Season 1 Episode 9.
In a fantastic parallel to Krypton’s demise, Clark and Lois’ son, Jonathan, was sent to Earth on a pod by his parents and great aunt right before Argo got destroyed.
And, in another recurring theme in the world of Supergirl, Jonathan’s pod was knocked off course.
They really need to fire whoever is designing these pods.
Kara: The Monitor freed Mal? I didn’t even know he was of this universe.
Brainy: Yes, I thought The Monitor was a Flash and Green Arrow’s problem.
To be honest, when Brainy mentioned that Jonathan’s pod wen through a time hole and landed in 2046, it was half expected that they would find him grown up to be Superboy.
A missed opportunity maybe? Or all part of the evil geniuses who call themselves the writers plan?
Besides the Argo scenes and the brief heart-to-heart between Kara and Clark — which is always a welcome treat — the other Supergirl moments were between Alex and Lena. Another shocker.
Alex and Lena were friends, perhaps not best of friends like Kara and Lena were, but friends nonetheless. Which, to Lena, means that she is just as hurt by Alex as she is by Kara.
Kara: Kal, Lois-
Lois: Kara? In pants?
But, Lena was unfairly cruel to Alex.
Alex is Kara’s sister first and foremost — of course she would keep her secret. And Lena acting as if they were all out to get her as a personal attack is not only not fair, but it is also a bit self-absorbed.
Lena is getting more and more self-righteous as Supergirl Season 5 goes on. It is only a matter of time before she truly goes to war with Supergirl and her team.
The rest of Crisis on Infinite Earths Part One included moments between heroes that we do not always get to see. At least, there were characters that we have not seen interact in awhile.
The most prominent, shocking, and heartwarming were the scenes between Oliver and Sara. And most of those scenes were not even between Sara and the Oliver that we all know and love.
Sara, besides Thea of course, is probably the one person alive who has known Oliver the longest. Plus, they have a history that can put most’s to shame.
You are a good man, on every Earth.

In a lot of ways, Oliver and Sara have gone down identical paths, and that means that they know each other a lot better than most people in their lives.
To get these last interactions with one another was not only fascinating to watch, but they were also a gift to the fans who have been around since the beginning. We have dearly missed Oliver and Sara’s — platonic of course — relationship.
How did we arrive here?
In a scene that everyone saw coming, yet still somehow ended up being a complete shocker, Oliver Queen is dead.
The Green Arrow’s death was not supposed to happen like that and as soon as it did, even The Monitor was perplexed.
It almost feels unfair that he is the sole reason the Arrowverse even exists and yet he will be sitting out the biggest fight our heroes have ever seen — akin to Black Widow on Avengers: Endgame.
At least there will be one Green Arrow moving forward, as Oliver was able to pass down his torch to Mia before he died. It was predictable, but very fitting as Mia practically is her father.
It was not shocking that Oliver would die sacrificing himself to save almost one billion people as he is a hero before anything else. But, it almost felt underwhelming and unreal when his time did come.
Now, does that mean that I did not sob when Oliver was saying his goodbyes and taking his last breath on a scene that will scar me forever? Of course not because this is Oliver Queen, the Green Arrow himself, that we are talking about.
Sara: Oliver?
Oliver: It’s okay Sara, this is my destiny.
Barry: Oliver-
Oliver: Barry, you, my friend, are the very best of us. I gave it all up for you and Kara.
Barry: What do you mean?
Oliver: I need the two of you to be the ones to save us now. Mia.
Mia: Dad.
Oliver: Don’t forget to find your mother, find William. Tell them how much I love them. I love you Mia. You keep me in your heart, okay?
Maybe it is the denial talking, but Oliver can’t really be dead, right? Somehow, someway, he will come back and save the day like he always does.
Hopefully by Arrow’s episode of the crossover, Oliver will make his triumphant return and fight alongside all the other beloved heroes of the Arrowverse — emphasis on the “Arrow.”
Yeah, totally not in denial.
