Women often compare themselves to others. It’s part of our nature. We frequently want what others have –their beauty, job, or man.
In Three Women Season 1 Episode 9, that came to ruin Sloane’s life, as the episode explored her point of view and Gia and Lily’s.
Sloane is the epitome of an outspoken, fierce woman who speaks her mind and pursues what she wants, but sometimes, people get hurt.
Sloane’s Life Enticed Gia to Write About Her
“Sex on Drugs” began a few months after Three Women Season 1 Episode 7 ended, and Gia seemed frustrated that Sloane hadn’t committed to the book yet.
Here is one observation about this series. Except for Maggie, the other three women all have selfish tendencies and think the world revolves around them.
Who calls someone ten times in a day? Gia complained when Lina did that to her, yet it seemed like she practically stalking Sloane.
Sloane’s life was probably the most interesting. Lina and Maggie’s stories needed to be told, but I can see where Gia’s editor deemed them as depressing.
There was something about a woman who chose to swing with other couples and have an affair that grabbed people’s attention.
In this episode, we saw a softer side of Sloane as she befriended Gia when Gia needed one. After constantly seeing Gia with Lina, it was refreshing to see her interact with someone more straightforward.
They both related to each other because they had old mom drama and wanted to be better than that.
Gia was afraid since she didn’t know if she had lung cancer and would survive to watch her daughter grow up, but Sloane helped her believe more than anyone.
Sloane’s Addiction to Will and Her Mom’s Advice Spell Trouble
Sloane’s arc was expanded for the television series, which helped immensely. It’s delved into her issues with her mom and why she won’t relinquish control to anyone.
That’s a huge thing in marriage and swinging relationships. Sloane longed to feel cherished, but not possessed or controlled. However, boundaries and rules were imperative so that people don’t get hurt.
Sloane wasn’t prepared for her intense feelings for Will. It hit her hard that as she was fooling around with him, her daughter got into an accident.
No matter what, Sloane prided herself on being a good mother and doing what her daughter wanted, even if it meant a birthday party with her judgmental family.
At first, the party went well with everyone listing what they loved about Sloane, but her mom’s confused her. While Diane was proud of her, she worried that she let others too close to her.
In this climate, it’s insulting that Diane thought white journalists incite riots and that white women steal black women’s husbands. That can happen in any race, if you’re tempted.
It was also the wrong time to listen to Diane about watching Lily around Richard, as Sloane’s jealousy was in overdrive and that’s dangerous.
A Foursome on Drugs Destroys Sloane’s Life
It almost seemed like others played by different rules than Sloane. Sloane seemed jealous that Lily and Richard together to plan decorate Sophie’s room when she returned home from the hospital.
It was innocent, yet she was positive she had seen a spark, so she planted seeds in both Lily and Richard’s minds that they should all swing together. That way it would look innocent if she and Will fooled around in front of them again.
Lily’s idea that they get high on shrooms first only heightened the emotions and arousal. I felt for her. She wanted Will to love her so badly, and he couldn’t even say it back.
Since Lily tended the plants so lovingly, the room looked like the Garden of Eden as the foursome started getting high and playing. At one point, it almost looked like Richard and Will were flying in the air.
Sloane was one of the sexiest dancers, and she and Lily traded envious looks. I suspect Sloane truly wanted Lily’s life, but I’m unsure if she could let go of Richard or Sophie.
These were some explosive but messy sex scenes as Sloane happily kissed Will and Lily had an explosive orgasm with Richard. Everthing was fine until Richard realized he didn’t have a condom.
Only Will could calm Sloane down, and that’s when Richard and Lily realized how intense and intimate things were between the two.
Is Sloane the Only One to Blame?
While I don’t condone Sloane’s actions, I have difficulty finding the others blameless. Sloane was correct that all four consented to take mushrooms and play together.
People experience weird things when they are tripping on shrooms so that they could have chalked it up to that.
Richard also knew how seriously Sloane took the swinging rules with how she freaked out when one of their friends didn’t wear a condom in Three Women Season 1 Episode 3.
How will this affect their marriage if Lilly accidentally gets pregnant with Richard’s baby?
Most importantly, Will is not blameless. He was just as eager to have a relationship with Sloane and keep it from Lily. It wasn’t fair that he blamed Sloane, implying she ruined his life.
I expected Richard and Lily to feel betrayed, but I thought Will would stand by her. That changed my mind about him.
Sloane hates feeling alone. All she’s ever wanted was to feel cherished, but now she’s been thrown out like trash by two men.
Now that she had nothing to lose, she divulged her entire story to Gia.
Earlier, Sloane told Gia, she wanted a happy ending because she despised endings where women didn’t win.
Will any of these women find happiness in the Three Women season finale? Have they stood up for what they believed in?
We’d love to know your thoughts, so let us know in the comments.
