Longtime ABC news anchor Liz Cho and former GMA face Josh Elliott are ending their decade-long marriage. Unfortunately, it has become increasingly contentious, with Liz filing a protective order against her estranged ex. Keep reading for more details on what has gone wrong between the two.
A Marriage Gone Wrong
For over twenty years, Liz Cho has been the face of ABC News, working alongside Bill Ritter. Viewers trust her to deliver the news of the day as she has done it for over two decades. As for Josh Elliott, he worked for Good Morning America for three years, which is how the two met. They were both working for ABC and clicked, tying the knot in 2015, but he moved on to CBS. Sadly, that did not last as long as he hoped, as he was ultimately fired. After a decade of marriage, he filed for divorce from Liz.

He wanted her to testify or be deposed, but Liz Cho filed a protective order to prevent it from happening. It was scheduled for July 23rd, but she maintained, through her filing, that she was not given any notice. Therefore, she or her team could not adequately prepare:
“The deposition was noticed without any inquiry as to the availability of [Cho] and her counsel.”
However, she would have done it on another date if that were an option. Liz was also asked to provide, but objected to providing, “copies of any written correspondence, emails, cards, text messages, or any written forms of communication between you and any person, other than the Plaintiff, with whom you have or have had a romantic and/or sexual relationship from July 11, 2015 to June 23, 2025.”
The ABC anchor had also transferred half a million dollars from her and Josh Elliott’s joint bank account. This went to her daughter’s account, and now she must answer why.
A Failing Situation
Liz Cho had made her own requests in the divorce. She seemingly believed that he had been unfaithful in their decade of marriage. The ABC anchor had requested Josh Elliott’s copies of communications with “any person … with whom [he] has or has had a romantic and/or sexual relationship, from July 11, 2015, to the present.” She also alleged he had taken furniture and jewelry from their home along with their dogs. Josh has disputed these claims and maintains he did nothing of the sort. Yes, he took a little bit of furniture but allegedly not to the extent she has stated.
It is unclear if Liz Cho will get her way and if this will be rescheduled, but this seems extremely contentious all around. Are you shocked by how this has gone down and is now playing out? Let us know in the comments below.
