According to reports, Vinson was arrested in Tennessee on September 2. He was charged with first-degree murder and three counts of aggravated child abuse.

The arrest stems from an incident involving a 4-year-old child who drowned at a Chattanooga apartment complex swimming pool on August 16. According to reports, the child was identified as Vinson’s nephew.

Reports Claimed That Vinson Was Babysitting The Boy At The Time Of The Incident

Local authorities with the Chattanooga Police Department reportedly responded to the apartment complex on a separate incident at around 5:40 PM local time. According to The Chattanoogan, they reportedly heard screaming from the area and discovered CPR in progress on the child. Officers noted that the child appeared to have been unconscious and was taken out of the swimming pool.

The boy was taken to a nearby hospital and placed in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, where he stayed for around five days before he died. Surveillance footage reportedly showed the young boy walking from the center edge of the pool into deeper water, while holding onto the edge. He appeared to struggle before falling underwater. He appeared to be underwater for around nine minutes before he was spotted.

Police later found that Vinson was babysitting the child at the time of the incident. It was also alleged that Vinson had let the boy and his brother walk around 0.2 miles to the apartment pool without adult supervision. Investigators later found messages between Vinson and the child’s mother, acknowledging the lack of supervision and his delayed response in the drowning.

Vinson’s first court date was reportedly September 8, 2025. His bond was reportedly set at $750,000.
