Al Roker met an unexpected guest on the Thursday, August 6, episode of Today.
While greeting fans out on 30 Rockefeller Plaza, one fan’s sign caught the weatherman’s eye. The poster read, “I’m married to Al Roker’s twin,” and featured photos of Roker and a couple named Shirley and Percy. “I feel badly for this woman over here, because she’s married to ‘Al Roker’s twin,’” Roker quipped as he walked over to greet the pair.
“How horrible is that?” he jokingly asked Shirley about being married to his lookalike. She replied, “It’s not bad.” He went on to ask, “But he’s a good man?” Shirley confirmed, “Yes, he is.”
Roker was very surprised by his and Percy’s strong resemblance. “Have people told you, you think, that I look like you?” he asked Percy, who responded, “A lot of people.” Roker reacted by joking, “Do people come up and just slap you?”
Roker bid the couple farewell while telling Percy, “I hope it’s been as wonderful as it appears to be.” He added, “We love that. Wow. That’s freaky.”
Roker has been a mainstay on Today for decades, taking over for the late Willard Scott as the NBC morning show’s primary weather anchor in 1996. He celebrated his 30th anniversary on the show back in January.
As for whether he plans on stepping away from the show in the near future? “Well, let’s put it this way. I haven’t thought about retirement,” he told People at the time. “Somebody at NBC, that might be a different story.”
He continued, “I love what I do. I feel good. I love this job. I love doing it. At some point I guess I won’t be, but I don’t feel like that’s anytime soon, so I’m just gonna keep going.” Sharing what he hopes his legacy on Today will be, Roker said, “People, when they watch, that they didn’t feel like I wasted their time. And that hopefully they felt better after watching than before.”
In addition to meeting his lookalike on Thursday, Roker also reunited with singer Role Model on the show one year after their viral Today concert moment. While performing on the 30 Rock Plaza in August 2025, Role Model invited Roker onstage as his “Sally” while performing “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out.” The moment even led to him being nominated for Sexiest “Sally” on People’s 2025 Sexiest Man Alive Readers’ Choice Poll.
During Thursday’s episode, Role Model promoted his new album, Chuck Timely & The Hourglass, by joining Roker for a weather report. “I had a great time being ‘Sally’ during your Plaza performance,” Roker gushed. “I mean, I did spill a lot of the wine.”
Roker went on to state, “I must ask, out of all the ‘Sally’s you had, who was the best ‘Sally?’” Role Model replied, “You were my favorite.”
