Michael Grimm, the talented singer who won America’s Got Talent Season 5, has been hospitalized with a mysterious ailment since Memorial Day weekend. His wife has checked in with an update, and while she says he is improving, it still sounds like he has a long way to go before he is out of danger.

America’s Got Talent winner hospitalized
Michael Grimm won America’s Got Talent in the fifth season, but he hasn’t had an easy time over the past few weeks. According to his wife, Lucie Zolcerva-Grimm, Michael has been in the hospital since Memorial Day and remains unconscious for a week now (via TMZ).
According to Lucie, Michael had struggled to finish recent musical performances and was lacking energy. She said he hasn’t been feeling well for a while now but hadn’t gotten checked on medically. However, on Memorial Day, she said he was very sick. He couldn’t walk or even lift his head. She said she rushed him to the emergency room and things there got worse. Once at the hospital, Michael’s blood pressure shot up and in the emergency room, he began talking gibberish. The hospital transferred him to the ICU and he still remains there a week later.
However, there is some good news coming out of this. Michael has not regained consciousness in the last week after doctors placed him on a ventilator and sedated him. However, he was recently taken off the ventilator and is breathing on his own again, although he remains sedated. Lucie did say that he is coming along well but will require physical therapy once he gets out of the hospital and will have to undergo vocal cord repair.

On America’s Got Talent, Michael auditioned with the Eddy Arnold song, “You Don’t Know Me” and moved on in the competition. He next sang “Try a Little Tenderness” and moved on. In the quarterfinals, he sang “YOu Can Leave Your Hat On,” learning Ozzy Osborne was rooting for him. In the Top 10, he sang Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” and then won it all with his performance of “When a Man Loves a Woman” by Percy Sledge.
Michael Grimm appeared on America’s Got Talent in Season 5 in 2010. Michael said his girlfriend Lucie was the inspiration for his inspired performance of “When a Man Loves a Woman.” He said she was there for him during his journey. He then proposed to her on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and Lucie said yes. Now, Lucie is with Michael as he battles this mysterious affliction.
